angst should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
According to AlphaF1.com a report in Blick, a Swiss newspaper, states that the Sauber team may sign Raikkonen for 2001. Would he be eligible for a superlicence? has anybody else heard anything about this?

Haven't heard of this one...

He wouldn't be allowed to have a Super Licence, not yet any way.. he could do lots of testing, then he could get one.

Surely he's better off doing F1 testing next year and racing in the British F3 championship - which I thought was his plan..

The from Formula Renualt to F1 would be too great, surely!!

I think Raikkonen should definitely do F1 testing next season. He was pretty amazing in that Sauber test - faster than Diniz. The next Mika!

From Motorsport.com (excerpt from Friday press conference):

Quote:
Q. You've already signed Nick Heidfeld. What is happening in terms of selecting another driver for 2001?

PS: We had two tests with Kimi Raikkonen in Mugello, which were very good. He impressed us a lot and we are thinking of working together.

End quote (Q is the questionaire and PS is Peter Sauber)

This is the only I've heard about it, but from this it sounds like it could be on the cards.

There's not a hope in hell of him being in F1 next year - maybe testing, but not driving. I've been lucky enough to have seen around 75% of his driving this year, and he is indeed good - very good - and probably on a par with Pizzonia last season. But the jump is ridiculously big. F3 to F1 is a hell of a step, but FRenault to F1 is one which is simply too great. He'll be better off taking on Sato in F3 next year - now THAT will be exciting
