Looks like it's gone from bad to worse for Lewis as it seems like he'll start from pit lane.

So I assume Hamilton and Rosberg use different suppliers
and that they switched Hamilton onto Rosberg's supplier?

I don't get this different supplier thing either. According to the Mercedes F1 website site, Endless supply the braking system.

Hamilton was using Brembo discs in qually, so he will switch to Carbone Industries discs for the race. He regularly changes disc supplier depending on feel apparently.

Reminds me of a certain spaniards obsession with Hitcos. Speaking of apparently Lewis was on Carbon Industries back then as well.

So a difficult race in prospect if he is changing supplier entirely. That can't be good for the confidence and feel.

Combined with the reduction in performance advantage at Hockenheim that Mercedes have, then this won't be a stroll to second place for Hamilton. Rosberg will have a very handy lead again tomorrow night.

Hamilton has run Carbon Industries before so it's not totally new territory.

Ferrari International Assistance at it again:

"But Ferrari technical director James Allison made clear he supports the removal of Fric.
The Maranello based team is fighting hard to convince Fernando Alonso to stick with Ferrari rather than look around for a new team.
It is rumoured at Hockenheim that, last week, the Spaniard was shown the plan for a major improvement in 2015, including a bigger turbo unit for the underpowered V6 engine."

I'm not an Alonso fan but Ferrari have given him nothing since 2010 and he deserves a car capable of fighting at the front. Without Alonso, Ferrari's record the past four years would be shocking and I seriously doubt they would have finished second in 2012 with another driver. If he decides to walk from Ferrari I'd completely understand.

Also, who do you reckon'll finish ahead, Bottas or Massa? My money's on Bottas, partly because I think he's got great race pace but also because Massa luck means he will either retire from car failure or someone will crash into him

Yep, he did. Even up until the mid 2000's you could find a Finnish flag next to his name.

News about the Hamilton brake issue. Mercedes will put Carbon Industrie discs on Lewis' car for the race. Toto Wolff is trying to convince FIA stewards it is for safety reasons. Other Brembo disc teams say they have no safety concerns and disagree with Wolff. Teams are saying they will protest if Hamilton is allowed to start from the grid.

So it looks like Hamilton will start from pitlane, in dead last.

A nice wedding present for Rosberg from Toto.

New gearbox and a 5 place grid penalty for Lewis Hamilton.
He will now start from pit entry.

It is my wish that Alonso gets at least one more year in a good car. The man is a genius. He and Hamilton are the two who get the most out of bad cars IMO.

News suggests the FIA have deemed the change of disc on Hamilton's car is not a spec change and therefore he is allowed to start from the grid.

Now we wait for the angry responses from other teams. All of whom are non Mercedes powered I'm guessing.

Hamilton is going to take a gearbox penalty. That would put him 20th on the grid, not much difference between that and starting from the pitlane and the pitlane start will allow a setup change.......

Just to put all this into context for a moment, I think Hamilton is pretty lucky to be starting at all after that crash. Lets hope he suffers no ill effects.
