H16 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Would Cadillac be better off...

Building their own car for next years Le Mans or sticking with the R&S? It was interesting seeing them do battle in the latest ALMS race because had GM stuck with R&S, that proabably would have been the Caddy.

The car this year is a revamp of the car R&S built for them last year, and it is not terribly quick. Do you think it was wise for them to build their own car?

I do not think that GM, as big and awesome a corporation as they are can adequately build any monocoque chassis. They need to hire it out to Lola or one of the other established chassis concerns. Riley & Scott have fallen behind in design and are not up to the task of producing a winning LeMans chassis.

The new Cadillac LMP is better than the old one, but it's still like watching an Arrows - horrible understeer and the drivers seem to fight the car all the time. They got on the podium yesterday (at Mosport) strictly because Herbert went off in the Champion Audi so near the end of the race. But they are a lot more modest about this year's model than they were about that brick they laid last season.

even audi did not design their own chassis, gm should not do the same. the lola b2k has always seemed like a quick chassis plaqued by being in the hands of the privateer(and even then, it almost pulled off a win with rafinelli @ donnington last year) it would be nice to see what a factory could do with a lola

As I understand the situation, Nigel Stroud is currently set up in England working on the 2002 Cadillac LMP. The deal for 2001 was only to massage the R&S 2000 chassis concentrating the main effort on the '02 chassis. GM is not building their own chassis. Stroud is doing all the design in house and out sourcing all the manufacturing. With the team set up in Altanta, I wouldn't be too surprised if all the assmbly was being done there.
