Its for the best of the series overall imo. How would it sound if Alonso can't compete at the home track of the only real manufacturer in lmp1 because plm conflicts? Thanks in part because they can't reschedule the Fuji race because IMSA doesn't want to move their own? That sounds just as selfish as Fuji moving it's date back to the original because F1 conflicts with it. Hopefully both of these series can compromise.

I assume they're not going to try to enter 3 cars for LM though, but rather the Oreca in ELMS is the same as in WEC (?)

Asked if Toyota would walk LMP1, Lotterer told Crash.net: "Yeah, on the WEC tracks, pretty much, because there hasn’t been anything really done.
"I don’t know how that will look on TV and how people will like it. The people on top should decide that for themselves. It’s important to keep Toyota on board, but the show is important as well.
"So let’s see. But the numbers are looking interesting. It’s a shame that the Toyotas will just be cruising.
"Le Mans is the one race where I think that category has a shot."

I can't see any of those LMP1 lasting the whole race with the fair exception of the LMP2 Evos of Rebellion Racing.

Either he's downplaying the performance he expects or he doesn't know about the new rules. The cars this year are lighter, have more power, have a lot more aero to work with etc. It's up to them to make a competitive car. I'm not sure if he's contradicting himself in that article, but he says he expects a Toyota walk in wec race then says the numbers look interesting

Aero rules haven't changed from last year. I think if you talk about Silverstone, Shanghai, or Sebring the privateers are probably pretty screwed, but well, Le Mans is a quarter of the races in the season anyways...

On his new podcast Graham suggested there is a big surprise coming in prototypes - any ideas? Is this the 3 missing Ginettas that were announced, linked to a factory, then seemed to disappear??

Call me a cynic, but how many times have we heard journalists bigging up announcements, only for them to be confirmations of what we already anticipated. I love being proved wrong though, so here's hoping!

My only other thought was that maybe Ginetta will enter a 'factory' car, they (and previously Zytek) have done so in the past.

But only 7 P2s in WEC.

Did I miss seeing JDC Miller on the P2 list for LM?
