Javi should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Le Mans support race?

We had classic cars from the 40´s-50´s-60´s-70´s in 2001 and 2003, 80´s GTP cars in 2004... what about 2005?
Does anybody know what will be the support race for 2005?
For many years, watching the old cars on saturday 10:30 AM has been as good to me as the 24h race itself...

The Lambo race was fun too.

Radio Le Mans played music through most of FFrance!

Two things spring to mind about LM support races.

1989 or 1990- Renault 21 one make series. HUGE pile up including a fiery wreck on the first lap at the start. What a sight!

2001-Clio series, was at the first chicane scoping out some shooting possibilities. I think every car went straight on thru the gravel trap at least once. Of course some, more than others.

The support races are a great addition to the whole event.

.
Sady from which one driver died of his injurys some months later.

But the 5 turbos, 21's and best of all the Alpines, the best support I have seen there.

Fab is right the type of car choosen this year is not my favorite either. They look wrong on the modern track, and dare I say it slow.

i don't believe it was celebrities...i can't imagine anyone not trying to make a point to the world driving like that. as rob says...they seemed to be line abreast playing "chicken" into the chicanes on the mulsanne. i knew the race was going to be different when they couldn't all fit onto the start grid, as i recall a large number of them had to take the start on the ford chicane!

I remember reading somewhere that there was to be a Rondeau race/cavalcade or something of that nature to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the marque's victory at Le Mans. The race win was 1980 which means 2005 would be the 25th Anniversary. Yet my memory tells me 2006 was mentioned.

Does anyone know/remember the details?

1980 was my first visit. Too see the Rondeau win then was very special, it would be good to see the anniversary marked this year.
