i am not sure if you guys noticed, schumacher changed his racing line twice when he was attempting to block coulthard after his pit stop for wets... surely thats against the rules, shouldn't he be penalised?

But doesn't it say right in the rules of open wheel racing: "People named Michael get an automatic Blind Eye as long as they win races". Hey, it works for Baby Mikey in CART.
Nah, blocking is a judgment call. He won the thing and he would have won it even if he hadn't blocked DC. |

Agreed. An exemplary drive. He proves again he has no equal in the wet.
Non-winning drive of the day: De La Rosa! |

Well, I watched it both times (For the purposes of study, you understand!) and I didn't see any blocking.
What I saw was Schumacher, with Coulthard behind him on the right side of the track, move off-line to the left. Had Coulthard moved left first? No. He remained to the right of the track, on the racing line, with no obstruction ahead of him No blocking there then. Then Schumacher, having noted that Coulthard had not taken advantage of the clear 'racing line' left open for him, moved back on to the line, so that he could take the next left at speed. Had he taken the left curve from his position on the left of the track, his manoeuvre would have been deemed dangerous. Seems clear to me anyway! I can honestly say (and I say this as no particular fan of MS) that this was possibly one of the cleanest races I have ever seen Michael take part in. And he won. |

yup, i watched the highlight too, and it wasn't a block when MS moved to the left, so it was just me being over-sensitive.
MS really is on a different level to the others, lapped 3rd place, his team-mate, set fastest lap... he just needs to sort out his starts, he seems to start better from second place downwards! but otherwise he is literally unbeatable once he is in the lead. |

I think MS will be really careful that he does not commit the sin of blocking, after the roasting he gave Damon Hill that time. That was a definate multi-block by DH on MS.
For MS to do the same would by hypocrasy beyond belief! I get the impression that Schumi is really trying hard to shake the 'Evil Twin' image he has earned himself the past 6 or 7 years. He can do it, race legitimately that is, as long as he tries. When all hope is dashed, however, he lunges at his victims... sorry, fellow competitors like a cornered dog. It's all he knows when the situation's beyond hope. I used to detest the bloke after he launched at DH at Melbourne in '94 (esp. after Imola) and his move on JV in Japan the following year set it in concrete. He can't bear to lose. As long as there is one more race left in the season, he can take a 2nd place on the chin (!) But if it's the title chase, and all is lost; Watch out! He's earned my respect in recent years, and this year he's driving like a man possessed. When it goes wrong, he admits fault. I just hope the C'ship is decided before the final race, if only for his sake! |

actually, i prefer the championship-shootout to last until the last race! but unfortunately, i cannot see there is any circuits left on the calender that MS cannot win, well.... apart from 3, US, germany and the japanese gps... so thats 8 wins still coming for MS!

I didnt see anything wrong with Damon's move at Montreal - why should he give up second place so easily?

Are you serious Minardi Fan!!??? I've watched that Hill&Schuey incident in Montreal many times and it was idiotic move from Hill. I like Hill very much, he was a great driver and deserves to be a WDC but that was stupid and dangerous by Damon.

MS definitely put on a clinic for wet race driving or at least on wet race setup. MH looked pretty good at the end but he didn't have anything for MS even if he could have caught him up.
