[VASC16R22R23] Red Rooster SMP SuperSprint:26-28Aug

Time for Eastern Creek to hold its annual round..

Will we see an 888 1-2-3 again..?

Will PRA discover how to qualify AND keep tyres under their rockets?
And will Mr Winterbottom enjoy having half of his sponsor's workforce at his ride day the Monday after the race

Its still an open field, despite the 888 form..

BJR? Tekno? PRA? LDM?

Lots to choose from..

5 weeks to find out

I, for one, am looking forward to this as it will be my first 'proper' Supercars weekend in Australia. I've checked out Eastern Creek before last month and it looks like there are some decent viewing spots around. Fingers crossed for decent weather!

The gap is going to be painful though, as the German GP is this weekend and then a similar break break as Supercars before the Belgian GP.

I'll be there too. Looking forward to watching the Supercars and Aus GT. Should be a nice relaxing weekend.

Rennsport and MCM are on around that time.

Odd to have 3 major-ish events within such a short frame of time, though.

I think Australian GT is on the bill as well, for a 101 lap race. I enjoy race weekends without any of the open wheel cars.

Scheduling the GT race for 8am on Saturday is a farce. It shows how Supercars regard GT when they give priority in the schedule to Toyota 86's.
The idea of putting this flagship GT race at this meeting was to both attract non Supercar fans and expose Supercar fans to endurance GT racing as a promo for 12 Hour.If they were serious about this they would have run support category qualifying first on Saturday morning followed by GT race. That would have 101 starting about 9.15 which is much more spectator friendly.
All that this schedule is doing is giving me practice at getting up very early on race mornings prior to 12 Hour.

Rennsport was nearly 4 months before this meeting and MCM more than 2 months after.Hardly a short time frame.

Im not sure you have thought this through. If it started at 9.15 it would finish at 12.45 meaning any safety car period would likely see the race cut short so as not to interfere with the main game race. Is that what you wanted?

Surely Chaz is due, qualyfying well, just making some small errors, like not slotting into second in race 1 last weekend

The 101 has a maximum time of 31/2 hours regardless of start time.If it ran safety car free it would be completed in 2 hours 50 minutes.

That's most likely a good reason to run it on Saturday morning - a potential 40 minute variation in scheduled finish time would make it very tough to schedule any other time during the race meeting without generating fan complaints of nothing happening on track (if it finished at 2 hours 50 for example).

It's good for the teams too. Their race is done middle of the day Saturday, they can pack up and get out of dodge in good time, avoiding an extra night's accom, get their rigs back home Saturday night etc.

It's hard to see that the scheduling is such a bad thing, there are definitely positives to it.

Not unless VASC has a ruling stating trucks can't be moved off site until Monday morning.

Well 7pm on Sunday night as per the regs, however do the GT3 trucks park inside the track? Or do they use one of the outside carparks/pit complexes?

Fair point. In that case the teams get their team members out of dodge and reduce accom costs but the rigs stay with a truck driver, show off their cars, maybe move a bit of merch etc. Still doesn't feel like a major issue for them.

That is VASC, the comment was about the GT teams once their race is done Saturday lunchtime.

How did AGT and V8SC solve the pit share concerns for the 101?
