You should be able to read about 30 articles per month on News Limited sites before the pay wall kicks in.

There is something tricky in the links these paywalls have.. if you get the heading of the article & google it, you usually get to go straight there, not stuck behind the wall. Link to it, and it becomes a walled article.

It's the way of the future apparently

Is Jessica Yates still going to be involved with presenting the events for Fox Sports alongside Skaife and Ingall?

Yates was tonight announced as hosting the "Sunday Ticket" broadcasts on the new "FOX League" channel...

Yes, she did mention on the Fox League launch that she will miss the 1st Sunday Ticket, and Yvonne Sampson will be filling in for her, as she will be in Adelaide for the V8's

Only Adelaide, or for all the Supercar weekends that fall on an NRL Sunday?

It's kind of weird that they would give Yates a major role on a newly launched channel, yet have her missing from the opening weekend of that role.

Interesting to see that the NRL has increased its FTA content for the rest of the year, with an extra FTA game each week being shown on Ch9 now

And F1 is looking for better free to air deals.

They have finally woken up to the damage the pay TV deals in Europe have done to the number of viewers.

as per the tv package signed in 2015

so will the 50% of games we miss out be shown in a highlights package on FTA or will we totally miss them????

Neither does NRL, that was the package they signed up to, Saturday night coverage for the last 5 rounds in lead up to finals.

supercars have a similar package where 4 of the last 5 rounds are live on FTA and the otehr one is a highlights package on saturday and sunday

Major difference is that the NRL (and AFL for that matter) have a significant proportion of their TV content on FTA weekly. In between a sporadic calendar and occasional FTA highlights broadcasts, the category is struggling to attract sponsors. The PayTV deal was a quick term solution to teams bleeding at the time, but now it's having an adverse effect. That's from Brad Jones mouth, not mine.

Well half to less than half on FTA, the difference is weekly though, something supercars have never had because its not on weekly.

Wheer as Supercars is on FTA tv everytime it is on, either in full live or 1 hour highlights package.

I dont doubt what Brad Jones is aying, But 3 teams handed there licence in under the previous fTa deal, Wheer as under the pay deal we now have an extra team

Not only the series, last time I watched the "highlights", there were more channel 10 promos than actual paying ads in the breaks.

Not sure where you got this from except maybe Joe Saward's wishful musings.Liberty are looking at increasing streaming options as current deals expire in different markets and increasing social media content but in the conference they spoke at on future media deals a few months ago FTA TV was not mentioned as a growth area.
What people here don't seem to acknowledge is that commercial FTA TV is in terminal financial decline. The "rivers of gold" they used to get from advertisers are no longer there.Media is so diversified that there is no value in paying large amounts for advertising time.FTA viewing numbers are falling by more than 10% year on year and this figure is much greater in every demographic under 50 years of age.Because they are not earning the revenue they cannot afford to buy the programming. For example Channel 9 have only offered Cricket Australia about half of what they are currently paying for the next international cricket contract.Sports will look at ways to increase exposure beyond pay TV but FTA will rarely be one of those ways.

The advertising revenue is in decline but the viewing numbers of FTA are still far greater than the Pay TV numbers.

And yes Joe Saward has been arguing (or wishing) for a change back to FTA.

You can also add Autosport to that, although ironically their thoughts on the topic are hidden behind a pay wall.

I think the point more is that the NRL has now further improved it's FTA package to the point it continues to be the best it has ever been on FTA.

Supercars meanwhile has seen it's FTA package get worse than it has been in the past in recent years.

So its only just catching up to where supercars is now as a percentage of events shown live and still no highlights package of the other games. Well done supercars for being well ahead of the game

Supercars Pay TV still remains well ahead of NRL
