You're p*ssing me off with these lists.. This is a list of who YOU THINK will rock up.. Are you sure the people you've mentioned whom I may add arent on your list will not def turn up? I would rate Fernandez and Jane to turn up more than McGill!! Brett Holdsworth isnt coming to the party, and where the heck is Wyhoon gonna find the $$$ for a BF??

Its also possible to send out a press release to display intentions too but that doesnt happen too much in this category. And people wonder why the sponsorship doesnt come back for a 2nd season when Joe Q. Public has no idea when the car is running.

The times would suggest Moffat has clicked with V8 Supercars in a way other than Formula Ford or Cup Cars. With a name like that, running around in a top v8 main game drive winning races sooner rather than later would be a good publicity bonus for the category, even if he gets there just because he suits driving V8s whilst other drivers have taken multiple seasons to adapt and get on the pace.

Many of the other drivers are fairly quick and have plently of V8 miles, if Moffat can have best of them in his first v8 qualifying session that will be quite impressive regardless of driving top shelf equipment.

No surprise really for those in the know and have watched him progress. I am just waiting for those that said on this forum 4 years a go that they didn't rate him and he would never be as good as his Dad, to come on and say the only reason he is there is because he has the best car or the prettiest underpants or whatever it may be.

One practice session doesn't make a champion, I know. But lets watch and see.

Mr Moffat is a surprise to be leading... its Sonic's first run with a V8Supercar, its Mr Moffat's first race meeting in one... its a good car, but there are others in good cars at the back.

It only P1 & P2 of the first meeting of the year... but some of the blokes at the back who have paid a modest Sydney house to run... might just ask for their money back

Just shows what happens when a " professional" outfit with good driver get involved , No real surprise...Good luck and hope it continues for themat Sonic.. Winslow has taken his small budget to the states to race. (Atlantics)

From what I can make out, there is 4 cars in the field of 19 that debuted in 2008

Cars 20 & 999 for Sonic Motorsport being the Triple8 chassis 12a and 14.
Car 28 being the ex FPR chassis (Frosty's from 2008)
Car 96 was a chassis debuted by Luke Youlden at Bathurst Fujitsu round from a Beehag chassis.

The next youngest would be the Geoff Emery 36 car built mid 2006. The rest of the cars out there appears to be at least 3 years old.

I thought the car Hobson is running is the Rod Dawson/Radspeed machine, which is an ex WPS unit ( the last one built for Max Wilson in 2007).

Gaunt sideswiped something with the rh side of the car. Car drove back to pit lane but looked a little flat on one side. Didn't look terminal, but quite likely deranged the steering.

For those not there, the backfires on the gear changes seem a lot bigger this year with the new fuel.

Pete, The one that Max Wilson last used was driven by Craig Baird at the Queensland Raceway Round of the Fujitsu series in 2008. It is my understanding that the Hobson car was a chassis that was going to become the WPS 10 car for Bargwanna, but was not used in the main series when WPS Racing disbanded.

Not sure "not good" is the right description... its just not the newest and shiniest in the shed... the 2006 winner, and 2008 runner up for Mr Canto is actually up for sale right now.. so Mr Russell has his backside in the 2008 Karl Reindler chassis... as used by Mr Howard himself in previous seasons...
