Rickard Rydell's two starts at the final BTCC race 1999 at Silverstone. In the rain, from fourth (or what it was) to first in both of the races with two wheel drift. Thats what I call super starting!

Does "Smoking" Jo Winkelhock really smoke cigarettes?

He does indeed. He got fined at Knockhill before for having a smoke in the car in the pits when they were refuelling.

ha ha, poor Jo! That sucks that he smokes. I hate it when an idol of yours does stuff like that.

Having only been interested since 1994 properly (and never seen BTCC review tape before then) did the BTCC race at Pembrey? How? When? For how many rounds? Why was it dropped? etc. Thanks.

the tourers did race at pembrey but it got dropped because it was deemed to not have the facilities for the btcc and crowds were falling i think.

From this year so far it has to be Kurt Luby at Oulton Park. He had qualified 5th or 6th and was up to second by the first corner. Other good starts have to be the Audi Quattro's, Brands 1996 Frank Biela 5th to 1st on the start, the others have already been mentioned.

Wincklehock (BMW) once made a great start at Brands - moving from sixth to first or second, but cannot remember the year!?

I think that might have been 1993 at round 7. Him and Soper were battling in the race until Jo missed a gear and spun off. Then O'Dor was chasing Soper and Hoy until Hoy had a problem (what kind of a problem did he have?).

As for Pembrey, they raced there in 1992 and 1993. It's a very small circuit, as well as the facilities are not quite up to what the btcc wanted (back then there were A LOT of people that came to the races).

I think you will find that Pembrey circuit is longer than Knockhill, it's easier to get to and spectators are allowed to park at the circuit.
I think there is more to it..........

Such as... Politics...
It was an interesting track to drive because it combined a little of everything.

Maybe because Knockhill is north of the border? Mind you, isn't Pembrey in Wales?

I think its a shame they don't go to Pembrey any longer, I'm sure there are many BTCC fans in Wales.
