If they do, hope they do better than last time they were in F1.

The Aston was a gorgeous looking car though, Salvadori made it go quite quickly on occasion from what i can make out.

What about the engine freeze rule though?
Whilst i think it would be great to have a name like Aston Martin in F1 i just think it's a recipe for disaster (Jaguar all over again). Whilst i don't doubt David Richards ability to become a major player in F1, he won't be able to do it without manufacturers support, plus, by 2008, Cosworth will have been away from F1 for 2 seasons. |

Well as Aston Martin Lagonda is currentley up for sale I think that may depend heavily on who buys up the brand. Bizarrely enough no mainstream manufacturers have stepped forward publically yet - more interest from private funded businessmen and 'banks/venture capitalists with big ideas and no clue about cars'
A manufacturer could step in and use the name in F1 but who? A private investor could buy into aston and then sell the rights to use the name in F1, but of not to DR then who? I'd love to see the name in F1 but I don't think it would happen, i'd love to see all the teams in F1 have some car makers name incorporated.... hows about......... [and think about it, they all make sense, almost] BMW Sauber Ferrari Toyota McLaren Mercedes Spyker Renault Redbull Nissan Torro Rosso Maserati Williams Lexus Honda Super-Aguri Acura Prodrive Aston-Martin who knows in a few years... "Chevrolet-Villeneuve Racing" LMFAO |

The latest incarnation of the buyer rumour is still Jac Nasser, but with Ford retaining a share. There is your manufacturer.
F1, why? What has Aston got to do with F1? What can it gain? Do people not remember the Jaguar disaster. Aston should (continue) to concentrate on making good cars. This has made them successful recently. Sort out those reliability issues first and ignore the obvious world of F1. Now that James has come to his senses Bond drives their cars again and they should be happy with that publicity for now. |

Judging from their GT program, if Aston did get involved the car will a sweet thing to look at anyway.

I couldn't see it happening as the money required for any sort of decent assault on F1 is huge. Just look at what toyota are spending versus the results they produce.
If Aston was to pump money into anything I think it should be an LMP1 for Le Mans. |

I'm totally an Aston fanatic and have been since I was about 3, so for over 50years! I really hope that they stay well away from F1 and concentrate on sports and GT cars. I'd much rather the rumoured GT2 Vantage V8 came to fruition.

Oh, a bit harsh, Martyn! Still you let him off the 'poinltess' or is that correct?
Actually Adam, if you can even consider the purchase of an Aston, maybe you can lend me some to buy mine! |

I wouldn't be surprised if Dave Richards either flogs the franchise and/or runs it as agent for a principal such as DirexiV.
