Holden? Monaro!
I have just read on bahraingp.com, that for the upcoming gt festival that one of the makes of car will be featuring in the event will be "HOLDEN"? monaro! Has anyone heard of GRM or TEAM BROCK heading over for the event? or could this be the Emotional Engineering Vauhxall Monaro rebadged Holden for the marketing value in the middle east? Any thoughts or facts?
p.s. Mark Coffey Racing are heading over in their 550 Ferrari which has been restored to GTS spec with Allan Simmonsen and another "HUGE" driver at the wheel! Last edited by 24Hours; 13 Sep 2004 at 09:43. |

The British GT Championship is run by the Stephane Ratel Organisation, who among other things (Le Mans Endurance Series, FIA GT and French GT Championship) is organising the Bahrain race.
I'd say it is highly likely it is the Emotional Engineering 'proper' Monaro. |

It just makes me wonder because,(for example) many british GT aswell as some BELCAR cars are attending, and arent FIA homologated but are at GT speed and allowed to run. I understand the "eligibility" of the Australian Monaro, but i would love to see the car over there as is to see how well it goes against some good european teams such as Friesinger etc.

Can anyone down there give me any info on the history of the Monaro that races in British GT. I love this car, but it does seem to have had a few problems up here. The team seem very focused and the car has huge potential. My question is How did this car perform before coming here, and how does it differ from the Gary Rogers cars.

It was built new at the start of this year with help from GRM and Holden.
It turned a few laps at Calder? with Aaron Slight (which brings up another question, what has happened to Slight?), then was flown straight over to England. The British GT Monaro runs only a 5.7 litre Chevrolet engine, and is more 'stock' than the GRM Nations Cup Monaro's, which sport 7 litre engines (from the GTS Corvette's), purpose built rear end and so on. Very different beasts. |

Think this would be better of in the GT Forum. There's bound to be a few FIA and Brit GT experts who can help.

No, Peter Brock campaigns a red Holden Monaro in Targa Tasmania, but is a normal cv8 with very few modifications. I also read in an interview with Emotional engineerings team boss that they are going to put the 7 litre once the car has a bit more development.

Also on the Targa Monaro thing, not calling anyone a liar, but I was lead to believe by Aus media that the EE Monaro was a totally new car built at Holden Motorsport. Similar to the Targa car, but not the targa car |

Unless it was Steven Richards Targa car from last year.
Brock ran his again this year, and the EE Monaro was already in England by Targa time this year. |

I am led to believe that the Gary Rogers cars are a completely different spec to the emotional car. When the Emotional car came over it still had central locking and electric windows in it, so a lot of work has been done to
shed weight to try to make it competetive. |
