M.g.c.c. Silverstone 10 April
I have just discovered there has been a postel strike in the Abingdon area, so you may not get your passes. But don't worry, I have been volentered to stand on the gate all morning to make sure everyone who should have had passes gets in.

Mike,
I have made this a Hot Topic so it will stay at the top of the page until the weekend. Have you e-mailed the local BRSCC and BARC Chief Marshals to ask them to spread the word, possibly by e-mail? What about John Watson your own Chief Marshal, he may be able to give you addresses etc too? |

Details should be available on the BRSCC and BARC websites or, you could ring Karen Coddington at BARC, she is always very helpful and should be able to give you the right numbers

Sorry about the time it has taken for me to respond, but I have been at Silverstone for the last couple of days, without any access to the internet, arrived home half an hour ago, so I hope the following is of use.
All mailings were sent out last Wednesday, unaware that Oxford Sorting Office was starting yet another un- announced strike, this mailing also included all Competitors passes and finals as well as officials and Marshals. Those marshals who receive their instructions from Pam Dearn have not been affected by this problem. Silverstone are well aware of the situation, and there will not be any problem with competitors, Marshals and Officials gaining access to the circuit, any form of identification, (BRDC season pass, MSA licence, grading card, etc), will be sufficient. The meeting is definitely on, Officials and Marshal's sign on details are:- Stewards, Clerks, Observers, Flags, Startline, Paddock, Pits, Race Copntrol, sign on in the garage directly below Race Control between 07.30am and 08.15am. where free tea/coffee will be available. Silverstone E.S. team have the same times and their normal arrangements apply. Practice starts at 09.00am, lunch break 12.20 to 13.20hrs. First race 13.30. The following time table is for Competitors as well as for marshals interest. All races will run for 15 minutes plus one lap except race 9 which will run for 20 minutes plus one lap. Race/Championship Sign on Scrut. Practice Total Butler+ Midgets(C) 07.45 08.00 09.00-09.15 TR Register 08.10 08.25 09.20-09.35 Cockshoot+Midgets(A/B) 08.35 08.50 09.45-10.00 JEC Millers 09.00 09.15 10.05-10.20 Mayflower MG Trophy 09.25 09.40 10.30-10.35 Thoroughbred Sports 09.50 10.05 10.50-11.05 JEC XJS 10.15 10.30 11.15-11.30 Metros 10.40 10.55 11.35-11.50 Pit stop cars 11.05 11.20 12.00-12.20 I hope that this clears up the situation and does not deter anyone from attending this meeting. As of last Friday we had in excess of 240 entries so the grids will be pretty full, and as we are on the National circuit it should be fun for all. If any one has any further queries, my details are on the MG web site, www.mgcc.co.uk then click on marshals. Once again I will be out of touch from the internet world from Thursday morning. I look forward to meeting you all on the 10th.April Take care and stay safe, John Watson Chief Marshal MG Car Club ps Could this also be posted on the Club Racing Forum |

Just to add to the above, if Steve Spurr has received his passes, others may well filter through. By the way, sorry about the way the time table came out, I will have to learn how to put things in table form.

Aw, does this mean Penelope Pitstop himself won't be at the gates to meet me???? I was looking forward to teasing him about lawnmowers and married life again! Guess I'll just have to track you down in the paddock, eh Mike? Will any of the other lawnmower boys be there?

Would this be the right place to say a big thank you to all the marshals and others who helped everyone have a super day?
Hope I didn't scare anyone too much with my frequent grass cutting exploits during the slippy practise bit |

I'd like to second what Richy-Rich said, a big thanks to you all. Especially those who had to do a lot of flag waving at Becketts cos I kept spinning.

I'd like to say thanks too.
The flagging was excellent, even if the yellows kept coming out on the entrance to the complex when I was in a position to overtake! I would also like to thank the guy who looked after me after I pulled off with clutch failure and those that tomed me back to the paddock. I ddin't get to thank then as they were off (because of the next race) and I got swamped with people wondering what had happened to me. Dispite missing out on half a race we had a top time. |

Shame you didn't make it to the end of the race Adam- there were three ten-tenthsers there to wave at you! I and racie-katie were in the pitlane, and one of our numbers is a scrutineer!
John Watson - thanks for putting me in the pitlane, I really enjoyed it. (Can I repeat it for the Silverstone International as well, please?) |

SkyRedButton, were you timing for the pitstop race?
My uncle was in my car and he got a bit over excited and didn't stop until 2 minutes from the end of the race. |

In the other thread you mentioned Rockingham. Maybe I'll see you there... Hopefully we'll meet up either on our or your wanderings. If you are wandering we normally go in the outer paddock. It is less convenient, but they is (much) more room. |

I'd just like to second (or third or whatever we're up to now) that vote of thanks to everyone who was working at Silverstone on Saturday. My first race *ever* and the first time out for my car too.
Afraid I too spent rather too much time going backwards during the morning practice as well. |

It was wet in the morning - good fun though
I see you have some TR pics on your website, is that what you race? |
