Telcel-Motorola Mexico 200 @ Mexico City Busch Series Event Thread *SPOILERS*

43 cars are on the entry list for the Telcel-Motorola Mexico 200 at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Mexico City. Nine full time NEXTEL Cup drivers - Carl Edwards, Dave Blaney, J.J. Yeley, David Gilliland, Greg Biffle, David Ragan, Juan Pablo Montoya and David Reutimann and and 2006 race winner Denny Hamlin - will make the trek to Mexico.

Qualifying is set for Saturday at 11:30am ET. The race gets underway at 2pm on Sunday.

Boris Said is my pick for the win.

Just read in an article by Rusty Wallace that the Front straight will be just that, totally straight, without the chicane in it this year, so that will be cool, apparantly the changes came because 1. they were still going flat through the chicane anyway and 2. drivers were crashing there.

Should be a good race

Well, as much I loved seeing the cars hop over the curbs (especially the full grid), it'll be nicer to see a huge massive pack of cars all together by Turn 1!

Monty 3rd fastest after 1st practice, not bad at all.
Was expecting to see Ambrose higher up, but still a long way to go for the weekend I guess.
Has Fernandez done many Busch races? Bit surprised to see him there (I know it's Mexico and all, but still thought it quite odd).
Also of note, its very strange to see the drivers in order of lap speed, not lap times!!
Should be an entertaining race...

Ambrose was 6th in Happy hour, after only 8 laps.

"Burger Boy" or "Mr Lucky" was 1st.

Its not unusual for ambrose to drive slowly in practice. Some guys tend to drive as fast as they possibly can and get a feel for the track. Other guys like ambrose like to setup their car during pracs and learn the track. If you look at Ambroses typical practice -> qualifying times you would notice that his jump from close to the back end of the field to the front end. Montoyas prac to qualifying isn't as spectacular.

Well if you are top of (or near the top of) the timesheets it will always look less spectacular.

Thats the thing with Montoya he tends to fade back as the faster drivers set fast times, marcus keeps up if not improves his times

Stock car is quite a bit heavier and around <100hp more power. Weight shouldnt matter as much though since there isn't as many directional changes.
