Which Series Actually Make Money?

With all the shenanigans going on in F1 at the moment, I would like to bring up a question i have thought about before.

Looking at all the series out there, how many are actual money makers for those involved?

Im guessing series promoters must be making money to keep the series going but for the teams and drivers? So im talking about series that are making money not from drivers or teams(discounting manufacturer money) putting their own cash forwards?

[mods feel free to move this if you think there is a better place for the topic]

Depends what you mean by that question.

F1 the series certainly makes money. A large sum. The larger teams make money from the series and from sponsorship. The drivers for those teams make money, since they can afford to pay drivers.

Eddie Jordan didn't leave F1 a pauper after spending everything he had to setup the team in the beginning.

I don't think the question is how much money F1 makes, but how much money is being reinvested in the sport

The group of companies that owns the commercial rights to F1 certainly makes a lot of money. As of other sports, I'd guess NASCAR is also probably fairly comfortable financially speaking.

That's not what you asked originally IMO. In a corporation, reinvestment is something that's normally done before you calculate the profits. Subtract the income from the costs, you get the net income. Some of it gets reinvested. The rest may be passed onto the stock holders as a dividend or saved for future needs.

"F1" is not just teams and drivers. First think of CVC, Bernie, and the rest of companies that control the commercial right to F1. They make a killing. They roughly keep half of TV right money (half billion USD a year, or is it Euros?) plus they get up to 20million a year from each track owner (some of course, probably pay less or nothing). That's a lot of money. Then, not all teams are exactly a "for profit" business. RBR still receives money from its parent Red Bull company for operations. Does this mean Red Bull is losing money in F1? Of course probably not. The brand's marking exposure probably makes it more than just worth it. Ditto for Mercedes. Those are not "for profit" teams. They're marketing outlets. Asking if they make any profit, is the same as asking if TV commercials post any profits.
