Which V8 Supercar game to buy?

The only game i play regularly is GP2, but as an Aussie Touring Car fan, i would also like to buy a V8 game, i just don't know which one to get. I do not like Arcade games, GT2 and NFS etc. bore me. I 'm only interested in a realistic sim. I have Bathurst Touring Car Champions and it is utter ****, the worst game ever released.

I have an IBM Aptiva Pentium 233 with 4.2 gig HDD and 4 meg 3D Video card, 820 CD ROM and 32 bit sound card.

Should I get V8 Supercar race driver, EA Sports V8 Challenge or Dick Johnson's V8 Challenge or something else on the market that I am not aware of?

Hope you can help me.

Hey Dave!

EA Sports V8 Challenge is a very good little simulation of the V8 series (my son and I love it!)

As for the computer, should be a tad faster (min 350Mhz), as long as you have a half way decent accelerator card you will be fine (but you need say an 8Mb 3D) Sorry, looks like you need to update at the auctions or a computer fair if you want to get into these type of games

Cheers

V8 Supermawhat?
How many names does this game have??
20?

Let's see,... there's DTM Race Driver, TOCA Race Driver, this V8 Superthingy,... what else?

But i'd like to know of a good game with solely V8 Supercars for the PC.

I have a AMD Duron 1 Gig with 367 or so Megs of RAM, a G-Force 2 MX400 with 64 MB RAM and a Soundblaster Platinum Soundcard

It's to make it regain specific. Toca Race Driver wouldn't really appeal to the Aussie's or Americans and very few people in the UK would know what a V8 Supercar is .

I have owned all of Codemaster's versions of TOCA but I agree that most Americans do not recognize them. Its a shame we'll never get V8 Supercar over here for the PC or the PS2. I have purchased Pro Race Driver over 7 months ago and it still has not arrived in the US for the PS2. I'm getting ****ed off about it.

David,

Your PC will be to slow to play either of those games. I purchased EA Sports V8 Challenge the day it come out and it is an absolute dud of a game. EA Sports Australia had to close down the forum for it because of all the complaints.

From what I've heard the Codemasters attempt isn't much better.

Hey everybody, thanks for the feedback. If any of you know of a good V8 game that will run on my computer, please recommeedn it.

Buck, the week before I raced at Bathiurst, i spent heaps of time on my uncle's computer, playing EA Sports V8 challenge. I thought the tracks were OK and the graphics and dynamics were excellent. It certainly helped me learn the track. However, the behaviour of the other drivers was just ridiculous, the bloke with the black flag would be exhausted.

The AI in EA V8C must have been modelled on Matt Neil or something. Starting a race at Mt Panoram the whole field just tries to destroy each other coming through Hell Corner.

Actually I might install it again and have a bit of a play with it over the weekend as I've heard the online multiplay for this is good fun. Now I've got the ADSL at home I'll have to check out if anyone is still playing it.

At the start of a ute race at Bathurst, we had a pile up BEFORE the first corner, only 3 cars got through! A little OTT I think.

Before you buy V8 Challenge, read this:
http://cfm.globalf1.net/features/articles/22/index.htm

That game has some major flaws....

BEING VERY FAIR, how much do you think STCC 2, V8 Challenge and Pro Race Driver should be worth? $20? $30? $40?

Less than the $70 expected for V8 Challenege when it was no more than mod for STCC 2. A price tag of $40 would have been reasonable.
