Norman Dewis OBE

Well done Norman! Still no knighthood for John Surtees as far as I can see.

It is not beyond the realms of possibility that Surtees has been offered honours in the past, but has, for his own reasons, declined to accept them. They do not publish a list of those who refuse to be so honoured.

I suspect that a number of notable people may have taken exactly this decision.

Many recent "awards", more so than ever before, seem to be devaluing the concept. Maybe there should be two distinct sections - those awarded on merit alone and the rest awarded for "services to celebrity and political funding".
