Also (http://mobile.twitter.com/endurancesport):
"David Kennedy mentioned to us that theyd like the ACO to reconsider allowing rotary engines back" Pre-2011 P2 regs allowed rotaries... |

Course isn't Mazda rumored to now be binning the rotary entirely since it supposedly can't make enough power and pass EU emissions tests in the same tune?

Perhaps Audi should change the racing name to Skoda. Based on this week's ridiculous claims, VAG could show that they aren't "buying" wins from Peugeot and it could save the Audi name from becoming tarnished when it loses next year because they are clearly running scared from the AMR-One. |

Now that would actually make more sense than Audi to Porsche, think I had seem somewhere Bentley was considering adding diesels to their lineup soon.

I think Toyota/Lexus might work, LFA in GTE is Lexus, why not P1? They were in the news as well, or, Nissan/Infinity(red bull)/Renault?

I find it interesting how rumours start... Earlier in this thread mention was made that someone at Hyundai looked at Mulsanne website... so from that Hyundai MUST be interested in LMP1... maybe it was someone that was using their work computer for personal use... like that doesnt happen... even if they were 'officially' looking into LMP why would it be assumed that Hyundai was looking at P1? they have an nive 5 litre engine that would suit P2

And all respect for Mike, but his site is mainly aero orientated, so if Hyundai is "officially" looking at his site, it's because they are interested in Aerodynamics of LMP cars. But yes, it could be a person within Hyundai, with interest in Le Mans. But it could also be with interest for their Pikes Peak challenger, which features a aerodynamic silhouette similar to a Le Mans car. |

One thing that was said at the Audi pit visit was that if a another VAG was allowed to compete it would be with its own effort and not a rebadged Audi. There could be common parts but principally it would be its own effort.

But, anyway, I would say the evidence supporting the Hyundai rumor is pretty thin if all the evidence is a website visit. It could have been a janitor in the breakroom for all we know. |

Hyundai was in the top viewers, which means that not only one or two person visited Mike's page regulary, but a hole little team watched it every day. Me too, and i think that some of us also visit it every day, but we won't be in the top25 viewers.

Wasn't there some rumblings that Red Bull might be interested in fielding a LMP effort at some point in the future? I just read that Red Bull is leaving NASCAR. That almost certainly means nothing as far as the WEC/Le Mans is concerned, but has anyone heard anything else about Red Bull more recently?

Saying that, I'd love to see what Adrian Newey could do with a more flexible set of regulations that Le Mans would give him. |

I think this is the right spot to ask as a thought has just popped into my head - Has Nissan announced to be building at GT2 car for 2012? Or was it a GT3 car?
I remember to have read something about that some months ago but can't find anything now... Edit: Nevermind, found it...it's "just" a GT3 car... Last edited by Acid09; 20 Jun 2011 at 23:24. |
