Yeah, good for McNish. What was the qualifying time last year?

You have to wonder what the fuel loads were. Hopefully McNish will continue this form for the rest of the weekend.

107% time was in the 1 minute 20 range, I forgot to paste it on originally, so everyone should qualify comfortably.

But how do these times compare to last year's qualifying? |

I believe Michael Schumacher set pole with 1:13.780.
Are this year's cars a step backwards?. The gap seem pretty big even if this is only Friday practice. |

A few people could be a bit worried, Jordan and Sauber are nowhere, what is Trulli upto and Salo is a second behind McNish
As I have said on another thread Irvine could be looking for work next year as he is behind De La Rosa again. I know things will dramatically change on Saturday but I think some people are laying down markers for a poor event. Looks like Sato losing his fastest lay tomorrow won't matter much. |

I watched that second practice (joys of digital!) and TGF had quite an impressive spin towards the end of the session. It was a bit of a tank slapper moment where he court the initial slide into the senna circane before it suddenly swapped ends the other way round. Interesting to see, don't think I've seen him do that since his Benetton days.

i thought that it looked more of a set up problem, not nessessiraly a mistake by tgf (it really pains me to say that!) there was no lockingof the front brakes, the rear just went away from him!

Fairly mixed up, for Jags and BARs very midfield, I had to look hard to find Panis and de la Rosa who are normally at the very bottom (and therefore easy to spot and make fun of).
What's up with the Jordans? |

Knowing TGF, it was probably the unreliable F2002

I agree that it did look like a set up problem fro MS , and he just had turn in oversteer with out locking the brakes..., also he had 2 other spins earlier as well

Typical Friday times with Mclaren topping the time sheets on lighter fuel. They've made a habit of it now. Williams are strong as expected and the new Ferrari has yet to show its potential so qualifying is definately going to be close b/w the Williams and Ferrari.

Am a bit worried with the Saubers...in the recent Barcelona tests they were not doing well too.

Well looking at the times they're less than a secong behind Michael Schumacher, there isn't really much of a gap there at the moment.

Also when is qualifying and the race? And will Radio 5 live provide any coverage? Thanks |
