Doing the Sat, see you there.

I have marshalled the Chester MC sprint at Anglsey (and had a go) a few times, its allways been a good do, last year one of the big V8s suspension let go on braking for the hairpin, 150 mph suddenly dumped on its floor pan, that was a wake up call!

Also there probably wont be anything as fast down the long back straight/curve all year.

I wasn't planning on doing any in April/May as work was non-existent and the car was being tarted up ready for sale. However a couple of weeks worth of temp work came up so it's put the clearance sale on hold for another month.

I bet it left a very nasty mark.

And along the track, too

Also meant to say it is good to see numbers getting over to Anglesey, as the plea for marshals sounded a bit urgent.

In London at the moment, and staying down for the BTCC, otherwise I would be joining you. Have fun, play nicely

For those who develop a liking for the sprints at Anglesey and want to do another weekend in June

Chester MC are having thier annual weekend event June 12th / 13th

Any marshal welcomed and also made welcome with meal vouchers and expenses,

Drop me a PM if willing and able for either or both days

Maybe that should be qualified with "on four wheels".

Nooo, I dont think qualification is needed, factor in the tyres which admittedly dont last very long, and the exit speed from corners is pretty good before you add.....

Judd F1 power, or, speaking of Indy cars....

Nicholson McLaren Indy car engine!

They sound pretty good as well!

Like the photos Ian

First time the British sprint championship used the full international circuit at Anglesey it was being discussed in the bar on the Sat night how fast they were and the speed of 156 mph was being put about for the track section round the curve, this was on the rev limiter in top gear

Having said that I'm usually on the start line for these events and it's great fun!!!

Not there this weekend but have fun

I can't verify this, but I think I've heard speeds approaching 170mph quoted for bikes.

OK so I'm an anorak

I've just been looking at last years results from the Chester MC 1 lap sprint

Starting from the old pit lane exit, full lap of international circuit to timing line just round the hairpin fastest time of the day was 75.5 seconds by a Pilbeam MP88 Dont know how that equates to a racing lap in a car or bike race but its very fast to watch

There may only be a few cars on track at any one time, no overtaking but sprints give a wide variety of cars and some very fast drivers, as well as mistakes and incidents to deal with as Ian alluded to in an earlier post and in my experience clubs and drivers who appreciate marshals

Im with Mike on the fastest thing at anglesey, The Irish fella has an ex indy car that he reconed was pulling nearer 180 by the time he hit the brakes for Rocket!! And it has a standard H pattern gearbox.

Approaching 150mph at Shelsely's Bottom Ess braking point, allegedly in excess of that over the finish line.

its about 130mph on Loton along Cedar Straight isnt? before braking for Fallow.

Isn't the record for the flying finish at Aintree about 165mph in a Gould GR55 (was a 36 second lap IIRC).

The fastest this weekend was a 43 second lap with a trap speed of about 144mph in practice, but this car/driver retired before the official timed runs.

Eric Ridler should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
On behalf of the Lancs&ChesCC/MGCC and Richard Newton I would like to thank all those that answered our plea for marshals. To say we were well manned would be an understatement with a minimum of three per post.Thankfully we were blessed with some of the best weather for the weekend although the rain was literally inches away on Saturday.

I hope those of you new to sprinting enjoyed the experience or at least didn't find it too 'boring'. (There was always the 'dominoes' to keep you occupied ) Perhaps we could persuade some of you to join us again on 4/5 September. The entry list should be at least a similar size but with more Westfields and derivitives.

Many thanks
