A NSX GT3 car would be feasible for ARTA, but without hybrid power.

On the other hand, would it be better if Honda should focus on ironing out their GT500 car first?

I'm assuming Honda want to run their halo car solely in GT500 and run something else in GT300. But they've run the old NSX in both classes in the past so who knows.

They definitely got better towards the end of the year. I think the issue is the chassis being designed for front engine location.

That much? They won't catch at all!

Btw, something I noticed is how Fuji delludes us regarding GT500's speeds. It's a very unique layout with a 1.6km straight(SGT have ~100HP more than Porsche LMP1 ICE) and, mostly, slow corners(due to SGT shorter stints, their tires are softer, thus having another advantage there).

At Fuji, GT500's pole record gap to F1 2008 best QLF time is only 10s(113%)

At Suzuka, we don't know exactly how fast an F1 2008 car would be but we can have a good idea based on the F1 2008's typical(in a few tracks the F1 2008s were faster on QLF but most of the time the 2006 ones were faster) QLF gap to F1 2006 being no more than 1s slower. So, a best QLF time, at Suzuka, for an F1 2008 car, can be assumed to be around 1.30.0.

GT500's pole record gap to this lap time is 17.5s(119%)

This can also be corroborated by comparing with exact lap times from Super Formula. At Suzuka, GT500's pole record gap to Super Formula's pole record is 10.5s(111%) while, at Fuji, it's 5s(106%)

This idea of even GT500 being close to LMP1(equal to the LMP1-P while LMP1-H are on Super Formula speed) is wrong! The gap of 5s is only at Fuji, on a normal track(especially one with lot's of high speed corners), LMP1-Hs would trash GT500s even more.

Makaze has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
They might wait until 2017 and run the new S2000(looks like the NSX,it is MR) in GT300.

So either the NSX or 2nd gen. S2000.

My gut feeling is the NSX Type-R(GT3) will debut at Detroit in Jan 2016 with announcement of it running in TUSCC in 2017.(run by Penske?)

Not sure about that, from what I know ARTA is a form of joint venture between Aguri Suzuki and Autobacs Seven Co. Ltd, without any dependency of certain car marque.

And for Garaiya's case, it didn't use Honda stuff (at GT300 form, its engine was SR20 from Silvia at 2003, from 2004-2012 Garaiya used Nissan VQ35DE engine)

So I think that ARTA's car at GT300 doesn't have to be Honda and ARTA racing team itself isn't depend on Honda marque (in terms of stake etc).

Yes I know, but would it be better if both ITR and JAF should work together on updating the Class One chassis so it can accommodate both engine placements.

Then again, ITR and the three big German manufactures doesn't want to spend much money on updating their chassis tub.

I can agree with you J Jay. Honestly, the big 3 German manufacturers shouldn't be stingy at all.

While BMW slightly express on competing in Super GT, Audi and Mercedes-Benz simply don't bother crossing-over!

Top speeds in gt500 are a lot slower than lmp1. Even the Rebellion (non hybrid) is over 10kmh faster. GT500 is 1020kg minimum + success ballast minus driver and fuel. Thats 150kg heavier than the factory lmp1's and near 170-180kg heavier than non hybrid lmp1. They shouldnt be that close when you factor that in.

Where do you get GT500's top speeds, please?

I heard GT500 have ~640HP and LMP1-P have ~600HP while LMP1-H even less than that on their ICE

GT500 top speed should be higher based on power. If that's not the case, then their drag values are quite worse.

As I said on the previous post, the 5s gap is deceiving because Fuji suits the characteristics of GT500 better. At a place like Suzuka, this gap would be ~10s.

So, I heard that the ITR delayed their turbo-charged inline-4 engine until 2019 according to the other thread.

Bandoh-san and GTA don't like this news at all and they're getting agitated by it!

Most WEC tracks are much more similar to Fuji than Suzuka anyways. Silverstone and probably Nurburgring being exceptions.

There's other issues as GT500s are much slower in hot weather for the summer Fuji race and the Suzuka 1000 is generally the hottest race of the year while SF and F1 are there early and late in the season when it's cool.

I know that it's off-topic, but would it be better if GTA would go to GTE should the Class One convergence project fail?

If they want to go to Le Mans, might as well go to GTE then...

I think Super GT just need to go on its own way (in terms of its GT500 spec, multi-tyre war etc) even though the convergence project with DTM will fail,

because Super GT itself was already exciting before technical partnership with DTM was announced (which can be viewed as Super GT's effort to promote itself internationally).

I remember at 2013 when GT500 cars will share the technical spec with DTM cars, some people are sure that Super GT will be less exciting, but in fact, it's getting more exciting I guess.

Well, I don't have any idea why ITR/DTM postpone their own 2.0 turbo engine. Audi, Mercy and BMW can be advantageous through making 2.0 turbo engine as the running lab of their own development for road car engine.

Ah, one more. To even up Speckook & Super GT's multi-tyre on a single race surely won't be an easy job...

You make them run a control tire from a manufacture that isn't associated with either series.

It could be worse, it could be crapirelli....

Imho, it's pretty clear why SGT is far more fun than DTM:
_It's ran on far better track layouts(on average)
_Tyre war is a great thing for racing as it swings the performance not only from race to race but also during different moments in the same race(wet-dry variations, a compound that might be better over the whole stint but slower on the initial laps and etc.....). Plus, with tyre war, you kill the usage of tyres as gimmickies like DTM, on it's ever F1-wannabe attitude, have been doing with the two mandatory different compounds
_No DRS BS. Again, DTM's cringeworthy attempts to be a copy of F1 just brought all the disgraceful silly gimmickies that kills real racing and fair competition
