Hello friends, hope you all enjoyed my coverage of the N24! It was super hard work and by Sunday night I was totally destroyed. Buttttt.... I did get a cool interview with Olaf Manthey after the race: https://www.gt-report.com/2018/05/15...anthey-racing/

awesome shots, thanks for sharing! Looks like you can get some really great views even with a photo pass?

Edit: you got the pass for the lead

Thanks! Yeah it's possible to get some nice shots there without accreditation. Granted there are a few superb places you couldn't get to without a bib.

But out on the Nordschleife you're right against the fence - nice and close to the action. So you can either stick your camera up to the fence, or there are actually lots of photography slots in the fence to shoot through. Very cool in that sense.

All photos on www.gt-report.com from Marcel Wulf are taken without accreditation. And they are some of the best you'll find from the Nordschleife with or without accreditation.

Speaking of GT REPORT and follow-ups, here's my interview with Fred Makowiecki and Patrick Pilet: https://www.gt-report.com/2018/05/16...ver-the-limit/

In a neighboring forum this was shared today.

I totally have no idea who made this, but it's superb. Albeit showing 2017 footage, it captures the event really good.

First few photos from the race; more will be added over coming days.

All without accreditation. Having now walked the full Nordschleife (Saturday), I have a few more good spots for future visits.

Haven't seen anybody comment, so I'll lob in an additional thought - really preferred the podium approach of the last few years to this year. The separate podium stage further down beyond pit lane kept the crews further away from the cars, kept the fans a bit further away, and took away some great photo ops. The elevated cars on boxes was always cool. The shots from on top of the suites looking down over the cars, teams and drivers were always cool. If I get a vote, I'd say go back to the way it was done last year for the podiums.

No one has commented on that because everyone agrees this year's podium was a mistake.

Here's Christian Krognes' final blog on the N24: https://www.gt-report.com/2018/05/20...-n24-the-race/

A bit later than planned because he went straight back to work on Monday morning

Glad to hear there is consensus. Nice final blog - well done. That long exposure photo in the Karussell with the lightning in the background is incredible.

Thanks for all the great coverage. Looking forward to doing it all again next year.

I've done a few trips to the Nordschleife now and have walked a fair bit of it, but have always wondered if it is actually possible to walk the entire loop.

I guess there are a few places where the path takes you away from trackside? And a few roads and bridges? Or is there literally a path the whole way round?

We had a decent map and there is a mountain bike route - but it does not follow the side of the track all the way. At a guess, I'd say 80% is trackside. Main bit away from the track is the hill down to Adenau and then later on the Dottinger straight.

So is it a public place? I didn't know there was a mountain bike route, how long has that been there? It seems to be following it's own route.

Looking ahead to 2019, how is the later 24h date (22-23 June) likely to affect the VLN calendar?

Will it be as simple as VLN 3 moving to mid/late April and the Qual race the last weekend of May?
