Round 2: 40th Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, April 11 - 13, 2014
This will be the 40th anniversary of the Long Beach Grand Prix. It is the longest running major street race in North America and started in 1975 as a Formula 5000 event and became the United States Grand Prix West for F1, from 1976 to 1983.
From 1984 to 2008 it was a CART/Champ Car perenial event and became an IndyCar Series race after reunification. Track information The original layout of the track has changed since 1975 as has the Start/Finish line. Old layout  Current layout  Length: 1.968 Miles / 3.167 Km Turns: 11 Lap record: 1:06.886 (Sébastien Bourdais, Lola B02/00-Cosworth, 2006, CCWS) Last year's winner: Takuma Sato A. J. Foyt Enterprises Dallara Honda Laps 80 Distance 157.44 Miles (253.375 Km) Race Time 1:50:09 Average Speed 85.763 TV Coverage NBCSN are televising the race with the Green flag at 4:40pm ET. That qualifying was very interesting. Now the 2 Andretti drivers Hunter-Reay and Hinch will be the ones to beat. And even Marco is starting P8. A lot of quality drivers are chasing them from deep in the field. The French duo will also be 2 cars to watch. And Newgarden. Too bad I cannot watch the race tonight. The time zone difference is a bit too much.

I wasn't expecting a standing start. Very clean get away. Apparently Luyendyck spun the two seater passenger car and that cost everyone a lap.

Bad luck for Pagenaud, just got clipped by Power, but he's not out of the race.
The Pagenaud incident and Rahal/Wilson incident under investigation. |
