A John Rust worked for us at C.Lucas Eng.Ltd (uk) in the sixties.

Charles,

I honestly don't know if it's the same man.
The man that I'm trying to locate raced a GRD 373 in the German Formula 3 championship in 1975 and 1976.
He is listed as one of the drivers on the "Challengers Racing Team" along with Dan Greer, also in a GRD.
John Rust’s nationality is listed as “GB”

Dan Greer was American, I think.
His car was Tony Rouff's old F3 car [373-050-F3] but there were plenty of GRD 373s on the market in Germany in early 74.
No trace of Rust...

Chris,
From everything I can find, Dan Greer was an American.
I have Tony Rouff's car, 373-050-F3, here in Canada. We bought the car in Germany last fall and had it sent over in a container that arrived last week. With the car is a second chassis and almost enough bits to assemble a second car. There is no chassis plate on the second chassis but it is in quite good condition but definitely shows signs that it had been used.
It has been suggested to me that the two cars were possibly the team cars of Dan Greer and John Rust but I have no proof.
We do know that, after Dan Greer had 373-050, the car went to Peter Weber in Germany who’s family had it until last fall.

Jim,

If it's any help the only ad I can come across for Greer and the Challenger team is for one car only, descriibed as 'ex Rouff' in Autosport 8 Jan 1976. I understood the car went to Walter Hoffmann. Do you know when Weber is meant to have got it? By 1975 there are at least 8 GRD 373s I can't account for.

Chris,

I bought the car from Walter Hoffman but he wasn't the owner until 2005 or 2006.
The Owner for the prior 30 years or so was Peter Weber who bought the car (we believe) in 1976 or 1977 from Greer. Weber started restoration of the car a few years ago but it was never completed.
He has since passed away and because his family had no interest in the car, they sold it to Hoffman.
