Preheating? Of course- it consists of standing beside the car with body off and blipping the throttle (or revving the guts out of it, which seems to be an alternative used by some ) until the coolant pipes feel hot to the touch.....
Crossply Avon, naturally. Although the 2017 wets are radials, it seems.... |

Its that time of year again. Those that are hard enough to brave the freezing cold garage. So back to work on my Lotus 22 and we spent Friday and Saturday fitting the new body work. Car all loaded up and I hope to have it all set up and ready to ship to South Africa on the 11th of December. I am running a couple of cars down there but I told my customer that I wanted to race my car as well and he was OK with that so Yippeeeeeee. |

True! Maybe the "When Hell freezes over" winter? Still, I assume the investment value to date will have beaten most other options during the period. Canny that. |

I'm ashamed to say the RS Escort has not been touched for a couple of years I doubt anything will get done this winter as well . Ever since I started racing I have always wanted a Formula Atlantic car . I am pleased to tell you I now own a March 79 B. It's the ex Howdy Holmes car so very famous . I guess the poor old Escort will have to wait a few more years . Sorry

Don't worry Iain - I've got umpteen "projects" that have sat untouched for years.........An Alfa 75 TS track-day car, sidelined when my mate bought the 75 V6 that we race, a Giulia saloon bought with the intention of turning it into a historic racer (and another possibly "spares" car), an Alfasud, and a Hillman Husky (imp-based) that I've just obtained some spares for in an attempt to spur me to start it after well over 10 years......

Just been into the garage after a week away and disappointed to find the magic fairies have not done any work at all. Suppose I'll have to do it

Gosh I had almost forgot about the 22 going of to South Africa . Back on Escort duty we have just about finished the wiring . We had engine out to fit new oil pump and sort out the sump leak . I am going to get the car MOT'd. Bearing in mind this Escort race in September can you advise me on what tyres I would be best to put on . Many thanks in advance

I read somewhere about the possibility of a few volcanoes blowing this year and making for cold weather. Maybe M&S winter tyres? |
