Thank you, John. I knew that I could get you to explain it properly.

Now, I'm not doing the Nippon Challenge; they're far too modern. But ..... in the light of an earlier request is anyone still interested in seeing a few pics from the two Northern Saloon & Sportcar Championship races?

Race 4 - Northern Saloon & Sportscar Championship

No? Well I'll do it anyway, since I had an earlier request and some of the cars are 'older'.

23 starters; 18 finishers

A real mix of cars, some modern, including the race winning Ford Focus which had something like 600bhp apparently and was 48 seconds ahead after completing the 11 lap race. The first pic shows a diverse range with Paul Collingwood's Sylva RIOT (11 - 4th), the Brian Morris Datsun 240Z (18), Gavin Lee's Ford Fiesta XR2 (1 - 9th) and Brian Murphy's Ginetta G20 (57 - 7th). The next pic is of Steve Spicer's E36 BMW 325i, which has already pulled over to drive slowly round to retire at the end of the first lap. The Datsun 240Z again (18) which finished 6th. 96 is the smart Toyota Starlet, although I must admit that I wouldn't have recognised it as such, of Andrew Wilson, who I'm sure was the poster who earlier asked for pics of this race. He had the pace of all the field except the Focus and finished 2nd well clear of Mike Cutt's E36 BMW M3 (44) which appears in pic 5. Finally, 82, is the XR2 of David Swales who crossed the chequered flag in 11th position. I'll also put a few pics up for their later race soon.

Race 8 - Northern Saloon & Sportscar Championship

20 starters; 18 finishers.

Another 11 lap race with two very quick modern Focus running away at the front this time, with Andrew Galacher winning from Charlie Shaw. No Starlet this time but a very good race for 4th between Chris Huntley's Subaru Impreza WRX (86) and what appeared to be an inspired Brian Morris in the Datsun 240Z (18) - see pic 1. In front of them in a lonely 3rd and staying there to the flag, Mike Cutt's E36 BMW M3 (44). Pic 3 shows Gavin Lee's Ford Fiesta XR2 (1) passing Daniel McKay's abandoned similar car (55). Lee was 7th. 49 is the E30 BMW 325i Sport of Mike Williamson who finished 12th. I rather like this next shot of the Datsun 240Z coming through Coppice, Morris won his battle with the Impreza to take a good 4th place. Finally, another XR2(43); this one being Scott Robson's which finished 17th.
