Martyn,
Many thanks for posting those lists. I think it is fairly safe to say the race was on the 26th as I have a photo of Chris Clarkes car taken on the same day, as #25 which matches the programme for that day, but not on the other date. Which points to the #29 being David Smith ? if anyone can shed any light on that it would be much appreciated, as I don't recall David ever driving a 1 litre car. Unless there were two David Smiths that raced Imps Oh bu**er. p.s The name Nick Hamley appears at the bottom of the second list in a Maguire Mini, Which is the car I am trying to trace, chassis #002 owned by my brother and myself from new and not heard of since we sold it to Nick. Anyone ? Last edited by WOCCOWAYCER; 26 Mar 2010 at 13:19. Reason: addition |

Driftwood!
Will you please stop getting banned? These threads need you (and the likes of Clive Brown). It all slows down without your inputs. Hope the mods can resolve things. |

Minicross424, ex Miglia racer Dave Kimberley has all of the maguire moulds. Bill should have his details, but I'll pm them to you in case he hasn't

Mason/Bevan Imp
Hi
I have photos of the Imp that Rob & I built showing construction through to its first race, which Rob won. I also have photos of the Imp I built for Vic Lee and one or two of Humberstones car that Rob and I put together. If there is interest I get them scanned and posted http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...gsyd/IMG-1.jpg Last edited by syd bennett; 6 Jun 2010 at 18:42. |

The Bevan Imp was commisioned by George for Bill Mcgovern to drive, but Bill decided against driving and Rob got to drive the car.
Rob & I had similar ideas how the car should be built, but none the less we argued quite a lot and this is the result. Looking back it was quite a straight forward build but I believe that it was the first Imp built this way. these are some of the photos I have found so far. Click the link: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v358/hissingsyd/Bevan%20Imp/ First group show basic chassis modifications. Then George in the car in the paddock at Brands. Second is George talking to his son. Then a short sequence of the first five laps with Rob Mason going from 7th place on lap 2 to lead by lap 5. Last is George returning to the paddock grinning from ear to ear. |

Hi all, wonder if anyone following this thread recognises the car below, we suspect it was special saloon.
I moved into our new house earlier this year and we all commented on how the RSJ in the garage would be handy as an engine hoist - it's far too large for the single storey construction so we wondered if one of the previous owners had been into his cars. Then, whilst putting a new worktop in the existing kitchen I found a pack of old photos that had fallen down the back of one of the units and had been sat there for the best part of thirty years. Looks like the old owner did a bit of racing in a modified mini. In the paddock at Brands (looks like the 60's): Counting trophies (outside a different house): I believe the drivers surname was possibly Lawrence, if anyone recognises the car, please let me know, would love to know more. The bizarre twist to this story is that I also race a modified mini so that RSJ may well again see some action! |

Just going through my loft, and came across the following on my notepad dated 1974.Entrant Licence: £40.Driver Licence: £10. (up by £4.00).
Fuel: Mallory Park 5* UP to 80 pence per Gallon. Entrance to Circuit for Public: Now costing: £1.00. ( I noted: "This will mean lower gates").Entry Fees: £7.00 per race. Both BARC & BRSCC. Then I added the following comment: " Don't like the way it's all going. How can we compete with a Fiat 850 with a full fibreglass shell, on an F.3 Monocoque, or a fully spaceframed Mini costing £10,000?"My how its all changed! Just thought it worth noting for your amusement. Gerry |
