No Milwaukee Mile. I suppose after the fiasco that was Nola and the internecine war between Andretti Autosport and Andretti Sports Marketing, the writing was on the wall for Milwaukee. There was much criticism about Holding a race at NOLA before it even happened.

I'm not too surprised by no race in Mexico City. I wonder if Bernie had already got his clutches into them or paying another sanctioning fee on top of Bernie's was just too much?

WEC stole Indycar's Mexican thunder (or something, who knows, maybe the Mexicans wanted to make the deal with Indycar but then the FIA stepped in and grabbed them by the throat...).

The big complaint about NOLA concerned mainly and (almost) exclusively the weather - or rather the timing of the year and the chance for bad weather, which is basically guaranteed in springtime. The location of the track probably didn't help either.

No big surprises but looks better than the last season. It's a bit disappointing that Iowa won't be a real night race this year.

That's a shame about Milwaukee, though not unexpected. I'd like to think that it's just another one-year hiatus, but if the Andrettis couldn't get it to work then I'm not sure who can. Still, the calendar could be a lot worse.

Overall a step forward with the 2016 schedule - which is positive progression.

Milwaukee dropping off is disappointing due to its history and Open Wheel heritage but its been a struggle to keep it viable for many many years now which is a sad reality.

The loss of Milwaukee from the calendar has a lot to do with the litigation between Andretti Autosport and Andretti Sports Marketing, the event promotion arm of Andretti's business.

The last two paragraphs of this Autosport article, are worth reading.

The series is a relic of the 20th century and what exists now is like a cover band for the Beatles.

Like I say every year, no one person hired will change what is a fundamental problem with the ownership and the product they dump on the market.

Could the series thrive with new ownership and an emphasis on modern technology? I think so, but it's not going to happen.

I'm not too sure what you mean by modern technology?

Regarding the current ownership, there's something fundamentally wrong, when someone of Derrick Walker's experience resigns.

Losing Fontana and Milwaukee isn't a step forward. Having just 5 street races and 5 ovals isn't a step forward.

It does - but its important to keep perspective that the event was rescued by ASM 4 or 5 years ago. The event hasnt been viable for a long time.

Not exactly sure what you mean, instead we get Phoenix and Road America (plus Boston for NOLA) and there's a decent balance between streets/ovals/road courses.

Seems like an improvement to me.

So, I'm late to the party but he's my two cents.

I'm okay with the schedule. It's great to have Phoenix and Road America but it sucks to lose Fontana and Milwaukee.

They still haven't fixed the main issue which is May-June is an absolute cluster****. Why they keep scheduling Detroit immediately after Indy, I don't get. And then there is Texas after that. Definitely the only series in the world that runs 4 races in 14 days.

I like how it's evenly split 5 road courses, 5 ovals, and 5 street. Although some more ovals would be great.

Not that I've seen, their website still shows last year's schedule. Single day tickets go on sale Feb. 1st so maybe they'll release all the other information then.
