I'd rather wait until the IRL releases the entry list before making my picks & as this competition goes up well before the entry list does it stands to reason that most will wait before choosing. Plus I do this when I have time. I have had no spare time lately. Entering two days before the deadline is better than no entrys at all.

I try to do them the Monday of Race Week, unless it is the season opener so that I can give people plenty of "heads up" about the contest, because once the IRL gets into the meat of its schedule, they will be racing in back-to-back weekends during portions of the summer.

Just take a look at their events from the Indy 500 to July 4th weekend.

If I get too many contests up at the same time, you'll be spending more time trying to sort events for your picks.

BTW...I forgot to change the stinkin' template again to add the "Fastest Single Qualifying Lap driver and Speed"...

I'll have that for the next road course...Sorry about that...I'm really busy at work right now...

I actually prefer that people wait for a Confirmed Entry List, because if people pick drivers who will not run (Milka Duno was chosen by someone for St. Pete), then I have to chase down the person to have them give me another pick and then go into their list to edit it so I can score it accurately.

I make a motion for leniency on my part and for everyone to be allowed the chance to re-pick on account of Castroneves' acquittal and he's going to suit up for Long Beach.

If the others in the contest want to do that, let me know either in this thread or in a PM...

It is your contest...I just run it...

Helio will be in the hunt, and no one knew if he would get a verdict, let alone an acquittal.

No one has checked in with me so far, Flyin' Ryan...I'll keep everyone posted, but I do this contest for fun...

I will say two things, FWIW:

1. I set deadlines so that people have to pick before the cars take to the track, so that their picks are based on what they think as opposed to how people are running on a given weekend, but

2. Helio's return (and it was confirmed in Penske's news conference0 will have a major impact on the weekend...he can drive and he has raced there before...he'll have two practice sessions (IIRC) before qualifying tomorrow afternoon, so he WILL probably be a big factor in the contest results...

I'll let all of you decide....

BTW...Why didn't you get in? You knew I would post a contest and you knew that there was a race this weekend.

Just curious, not being critical...you had a good result at St. Pete...I think you'll be a strong contender...

If they don't have a beef, I'm OK with it, but Helio is in the mix now, so they might...

I just wish the jury could've come back with a verdict earlier, because many people filed pretty close to the deadline...

I want you in if they will say it is OK...I want people to have fun and participate...
