Brayfield Stock Car Circuit

I think its in Northamptonshire somewhere! I went when i was a young nipper, i was just wondering if the circuit was still in use? Iv tried looking it up on the web but had no luck. Does anybody know of a website that may have information about the circuit and a event calendar for this year?

Racing at the circuit is now promoted by INCARACE. It is known as NIR, Northampton International Raceway

promotor web site

http://www.incarace.co.uk

http://www.incarace.co.uk/fixtures.html

From their website

"For your FREE COPY of the 2005 Fixtures please call 0121 357 7328 or Email info@incarace.co.uk

Track address: Northampton International Raceway, Brafield Road, Horton, Northants NN7 2BA

How to Find Northampton International Raceway

NIR is located approximately five miles from Northampton. Travel along the A428 from Northampton towards Bedford and head for the village of Brafield-on-the-Green. Then take the turn on the right towards Horton. The Raceway is on the right before reaching Horton

There used to be an interesting looking kart track on the infield, that included the slightly banked stock car oval bends.

This was ripped out to make way for a "Stadium" Rallycross. The armco round the infield part of this track made viewing the opposite stock straight difficult. Could only see roofs and wings.

The last time I went, about 3-4 years ago, this had been replaced by a tarmac infield. Much better for viewing.

National Hot Rods used to feature, plus the European F1 Championships always used to have a good atmosphere, thanks to an invasion of Dutch spectators.

I have a fixture list someone, but can`t find it at the mo.

Hope you have fun, if you get to go along.

National hot rods still go there at least once a year, 9th October this year. BRiSCA formula ones are the main formula, they have their European championship on July 16/17 plus their World Final on Saturday Sept.17th followed by the World Masters the next day, expect 100 cars for this meeting. On a quarter mile track it is fast and furious racing, not for the feint hearted. Formula two stock cars also have their World Final there on Sept.10th. It is a busy year for NIR when they will be celebrating 50 years of racing. Quite a lot of 50th anniversaries this year.

I raced HotRods there in the 70's and had some good memories of the place. Nice to hear it is still up and running.
