Davidson beats webber????
WIth just 20 minutes to go in the second practise session Davidson in .57 seconds ahead of Webber in the Minardi.
Is Davidson in the old spec car?? Is Webber as good as people thought??? IF not how bad in Yoong??? Interesting things in the next twenty minute and next three days???? MAybe Jaguar will be getting out the the eraser for the name on the contract?? Then again Maybe Webber will come through! |

Remember...this is PRACTICE...not QUALIFYING.
But either way..I am very, very amazed. Shocked even. Well done Ant! |

I have been looking foward to Webber getting a real team mate, it will make or break him i reckon.
Being an Aussie I hope he rises to the challenge! |

Yes and that lap by Webber was ALOT quick too, not to underline Anthony's efforts. I think now Webber is being pushed even harder, we will see the best from him.

Bloody hell...this is starting to get exciting!
Can't wait for qualifying tomorrow. Both Davidson and Mark are edging towards the Toyota's. Of course...they are probably leaving the setup work to Webber whilst Davidson tests the car on a skittish fuel load. |

Remember this is just practice, it means nothing, remember Hockenheim last year, Irvine fastest on Friday, no where saturday, i lost all interest in friday practice then.
Webber was most likely running heavy to get a good race set-up, while Davidson is probably running light and doing some hot laps to get comfortable with the car. |

You got to be impressed with AD, especially when you consider it's his first time at this circuit in an unfamiliar car with unfamiliar tyres. When Alesi switched to Jordan and Salo stood in for Schumacher, they both really struggled at Hungary and they were a lot more experienced than Ant. WTG Ant,keep it up!!

Isn't it funny that we're more interested to see who can come last in practice/qualifying rather than who is on the front row? Thats no disrespect to the Minardi (or maybe Toyota/Jaguar) drivers. But an interesting point...

Perhaps it is more an indication on how bad F1 has become. The front rows can be predicted with little surprise. Would it be a laugh if one of them plants a Minardi on the Front row Who's praying for rain seconds after the first Minardi timed run SL |

Wouldn't that be the business!!! Didn't Rubens have a pole just like that with Jordan?

Qualifying tomorrow will be really interesting, and Spa even more so where both drivers have prior track experience. I think in a way Webber fell asleep against Yoong and Davidson will bring him back to reality and show us what Webber is really made of, but ill wait till after qualifying to say for sure.

Maybe BAR should be the ones with contract regrets having just signed Button? - Time will tell.

I think most people here, and it is my opinion as well, are saying that Davidson is doing really well, not that Webber isn't any good.
Surely it is a compliment to Webber that if someone goes quicker than him (even just in practice) they must have done well. |

Get a grip dudes... it's only a practice session... Wait til quali and the race to start your arrow slinging.

One thing is certain from practice. Anthony is $1000 lighter!
He got done for speeding! (in the pit lane) 63.3kph (the practice limit is 60kph in the pit lane) Here's the link: http://www.autosport.co.uk/newsitem.asp?id=20258&s=5 |

Davidson is 2.2s inside 107% of Michael's time. This bodes well for qualifying.
As I said before potentially the Ferrari may have a bigger difference between race and qualifing performance than Minardi (they can afford too). But 2.2s is quite a comfortable margin. |

I don't think Webber is bad but I sort of expect AD to out-qualify him. Thats cause I think AD is that good. The race may be a different story as this will be AD's first race in quite a while and he's never driven a car with this performance (even though its miles off the Ferraris) so close to 19 other cars. So I expect he'll be taking his time into Turn 1.
