What if rhubins had....?
Over at pitpass they suggested that rhubins could have-if he had it in him- taken michael out of the indy f1 simply by lifting the trottle just before the start line during the restart
Wouldn't that just be SOOOOOO funny Of course it wouldn't happen.Rhuby has shown his true colours,he wouldn't do anything at all that would be interpreted as trying to intimidate michael or (rhubins')paycheque |

Except the telemetry would have given him away.

Why take him out all he had to do was lift his foot.MS would have crossed the start line first oops drive trough penalty go to the back of the feild. The only problem with that is one of the pit crew would have stuffed up in the Rubans pit stop.

And as I said, the telementy would have made him look silly. You cant 'lift' on a restart and have another driver penalised. Are you guys new to racing?

Now, in all seriousness, two questions:
*the cars were still accelerating at the start/finish line, so Rubens could have lifted 'a bit' just to have it accelerating 'a bit' slower - would telemetry show that too? Quote:

The telemetry would show even the slightest lift.
Whether it is in the rules or not I don't know, but trying to get your teammate a penalty wouldn't go down too well I guess. |

That would have been smart. Michael would have got a drive thru, and by lifting, Rubens would have been passed by whoever was third at the time.

And how popular would he have been when he came into the pits, or post race?

He would have been popular with those of us who don't support TGF or Ferrari.

I think the 'lift' being refered to is when Michael was beside him, not in front, thus having Michael pass him before the start line. But again, Michael could not be penalised and RB would just look silly.
This thread was started as a joke, and lives up to it |

I think to make F1 more interesting every car except TGF's should be made with a gun or missile on it aimed at the red car with the German driver. This way, TGF could not win the races :-).

He could have said "My foot slipped" or "I had brake trouble" both well used Ferrari excuses!
Rubens has proved himself totally beaten down though and would never have the courage to do anything but what he's told. He would have done it by now if he had. And of course this is idle talk as these guys are alleged professionals and would never cheat, deliberately ram other drivers off the track and lie about it, brake test people in tunnels, try dangerous passes in the rain and rip the wheel off their car and then accuse another driver of trying to kill them, or tell the world that there was a French conspiracy to keep him from winning the championshhip. |

It may interest you to know that even DC now admits that his (genuine) attempt to let Schumacher pass in the rain at Spa was clumsy and that he was a contributory factor in the accident. But why let mere facts get in the way of a good anti-Schumacher rant? So Schumacher was angry after the incident? Amazing. Because drivers never get angry after accidents which have taken them out of races in which they might have done well. Just like Nelson Piquet never punched Eliseo Salazar, and Ayrton Senna never landed one on Eddie Irvine. (Ah, but I forget myself; Ayrton is beyond reproach, because of his talent, whereas Schumacher's talent is merely the product of his cheating.) I weary so very much of the "Ferrari won't let Rubens win" threads, because the overwhelming majority of them are, in fact, horsesh!t. Yes, in 2002, Rubens was deprived of a genuine win at the A-1 Ring to let Schumacher by. That incident apart, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find occasions when you can say that Ferrari penalised Rubens in order to let Schumacher win. Because here's the thing: Schumacher doesn't need help to win. He is a faster and more consistent driver than Rubens, and generally will beat him. It's not rocket science. |
