Didn't see the race, how was it? Are you saying system the series has in place is rewarding the wrong drivers?

Yeah pretty much, the system works if there is no SC , but as soon as there is a SC then the system is in ruins.

but that aside, dont like watching guys sitting stationary in the pits for no real reason other than to penalise the fast drivers

I understand why they do it and why it is necessary, but its horrible as a spectator

I agree with you completely on that one - it's one thing to impose BoP on faster drivers, but using a method that comes entirely down to the timing of incidents unrelated to the drivers in question makes no sense to me. Limiting driver grades, weight penalties, grid penalties; all of these make much fairer driver equalisation IMO.

All those things come at a cost, in particular weight penalties which I dont see how they would make anything 'fairer'.

It is important to remember that the sprint series is catered towards the competitors (and in particular the amateur competitors) rather than spectators in terms of a business model.

Some great racing over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyable - a great start to the AGT season with the Grand Prix not to far off.

oh it was a great start alright, watching great drivers in great cars sit in the pits for up to 40 seconds while lesser drivers in older cars steam of into the sunset (sunrise)

How about the mercedes hey, no where at bathurst, suddenly a race winner, Had a discussion with an old poster on speedcafe, he didnt think the merc could do it

I am not sure you understand BoP.

Adelaide and Bathurst are quite different circuits

I think the Mercedes was pegged back a bit and that hurt it at Bathurst. Not so much a difference at the smaller tracks.

Your post about Bathurst being a performance form guide for Adelaide - very different circuits.

Furthermore - Bathurst 12 Hours runs 2016 BoP whilst Australian GT runs 2017 BoP

I think you missed the bit where i was saying the mercedes would be competitive. that would be because i am aware of BOP and the difference between the tracks.

but thank you for somehow concluding i didn't

I mean who knew that bathurst had significant elevation changes and a 1.9km straight, where as Adelaide has a straight less than 1 km and a lot of left right corners and only minor elevation change
