zac510 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
EERC/BRSCC Brands Hatch 17/18 June 2006

Just had a poke around the website to see how this event was shaping up.

Found entry list here (as of 6/6/06):
http://www.eerc.co.uk/cms/e107_files...0-%20BRSCC.xls

Timetable here:
http://www.eerc.co.uk/cms/e107_files...%20Iss%205.doc

I've been keen to see the Britsports for quite a while and this event looks to have a good turnout so far.

I'll be going on Saturday due to patriotic duties on Sunday afternoon. Plus the Saturday schedule appears to have a bit more variety on show.

Any ten-tenthers going or competing?

Looks at good meeting, I would go but funds are a little short after a fairly busy month. Had to fork out on a new camera lense last week to, which wasnt planned. Im sure you will have a great time, the weather looks good for it too. My next trip to Brands will be for the DTM.

I won't be there in either capacity. Car's engine in million bits, and other domestic chores beckoning....

Like Dazbaz, may be there for the DTM.

In respect of the "variety" - it is actually exactly the same on both Saturday and Sunday.... The only difference is that Saturday morning is taken up by Qualifying such that the afternoon`s races are "sprint" ones rather than on Sunday where the EERC events for Britcar and Production S1 become longer.

The event should be one of the highlights of the year at Brands - however because it doesn`t have a Hakkinen or a Priaulx entered it will get no promotion and no crowd as a result....! Still, that`ll make it a more pleasant experience for the rest of us I suppose!

A more up-to-date Dutch Supercar entry can be found here.....

http://www.supercarchallenge.nl/uplo...Hatch%20V4.pdf

Take the Final Instruction`s entries for Britcar/Prod S1/Britsports with a little pinch of salt - they have a tendency to not always reflect exactly what turns out on the day! - that said, I`m sure the entries should be rather splendid - expect around 30 cars each in Britsports/Britcar, and more in Prod S1.......

I`m not knocking DTM in anyway (I`m quite looking forward to it - though not the GP-style sparse support package), but if I had to choose between 150+ cars competing over 2 days with only a few hours of non-track action..... OR..... 20 DTMs, a few star names, some FPAs and F3s, and LOADS of vacant track time all spread over 3 days I know what I`d rather be going to see!! Oh, plus GP circuit v Indy circuit, plus £12 entry versus £30?? entry.....

Re 10-10th `ers - I dare say Rick Pearson may stumble across this thread before Friday testing maybe - he`ll be out in the DSC in a Promotorsport run Nissan Super Tourer.

Ooh, finally, if anyone is going then print this off and take it with you on the Saturday,

http://www.eerc.co.uk/cms/e107_image...CLIC_Flyer.pdf

I stumbled across it last night - it explains the "Bike Parades" element of the timetable on the Sat.

I agree totally - these events are much more friendly to the spectator. I can get entry and afford a few cardboard hamburgers for the price of the DTM ticket. As you said, more pleasant for the rest of us Hopefully the entrants are friendly and don't mind a chat and close up photos when they are not busy?

Supercar entrylist looks awesome and thanks for the voucher, happy to support it!

I'm definately not a Britsports fan, but I'm looking forward to this if only for the Dutch Supercars. Saw them at Silverstone last year and there's some very impressive machinary out there - even a couple of ex-DTM cars if you want a taster before the real thing.

More DSC info and final(ish) instructions a http://www.supercarchallenge.nl/Show...em=Rijdersinfo

Re 10-10ther's, RickP as already mentioned, Michael Wilson (Wilbo) in Jim Pocklington's Primera, Garry Woodcock with brother Michael in the Mosler. Probably a few more I missed.

Zac, forget the cardboard burgers. I'd recomend Hailwoods if you haven't tried it since the food area was re-vamped.

Tell me about it - I've seen so many great cars and motorsport lately, my happy snap camera just doesn't cut it anymore. Tempted to get a digital SLR and lens but I don't think a basic kit comes in at much under £1k.

redshoes, why don't you like Britsports? Do you prefer touring/sedan racing?

Zac, I've never got the whole Britsport/Raditub thing. Ever time I've seen them there's been too few cars, no real racing, too little overtaking and too many laps. I'm sure there are exceptions and looking at the provisional entry list this weekend looks a little more promising but as a rule I find them very boring to watch.

Crummy day at work, nothing can stop me going tomorrow now

Baz, you'll have to tell me how to get over into the pits in the middle of the track. Are you allowed to use the roadway?

To anyone else there, I'll be wandering around with a black cap and white bike helmet strapped to my backpack. Might see you there.

Either walk through the tunnel from the paddock or through the pedestrian tunnel near the startline (if they don't ask you for a pass!)..reckon you should be ok though...just say Mr James Tucker sent you!

Thanks Baz, never knew the tunnel was there. It is rather inconspicuous!

Had a great day on Saturday - all the people were very friendly and were happy to let people snoop around the pits. Racing was great especially the Britcar, the top 8 or so cars being well matched.

Only disappointment was I wanted to buy a DSC hat but nobody in the tent wanted to know me. No sale.

I went yesterday and was amazed at the varied cars taking part in all of the races! i was hoping to see the vette running in the dutch supercar challenge but alas it stayed in the paddock, i was also taken back by the v8 star cars namely two vw passats and also a omega in the britcar race ....what are they?does the series still run at all? i work at a vw dealer and kept eyeing up customers passats working out how i could replicate a v8 star one!

V8 Star used to be a German one-make series. Identical chassis/engine clothed in a shilouette bodyV8 Star used to be a German one-make series. Identical chassis, 5.7 litre V8 engine, circa 500bhp, clothed in a silhouette body - VW Passat, Opel Omega, Jaguar S-type, etc. The series folded at the end of 2003.

And seems the EERC V8 series will have a good number of these next year if the entries keep going as they are at the moment (plus some V8 Eurocar versions)

The Passats in the Dutch Supercars are different in their spec.

They both run in the Rhino's GT series too as far as I can make out, and the faster one has more than 700bhp (allegedly).

Yes, it'd be nice to see some more V8 Star's in the Dunlop Supercar V8 series, as well as a few more Aussie V8's, Thundersaloons, well in fact more of anything V8 and flame spitting!

One of those Passats had an LS2 engine, presume 6 litre version. I'm not sure about the other Passat.

I'm surprised there aren't more ex Aus V8 Supercars here - they make a lot of them there. Problem is that there is a 'feeder' series using the previous shape cars that haven't been written off yet. But the exchange rate/price should be in the favour of Brits.

Free of the tight Aus regs I'm sure they could be tuned for a lot more speed.

I looked into bringing a Falcon over here a few years ago, it was an ex-Stone Brother's car, so pretty darned quick. Worked out at about £30K, plus shipping. That's a heck of a lot of car.

The one with the LS2 is the kiddie. Rapido! Like a thunderbolt in a straight line, and handles fairly well too.

I had a read of the Aus rules, and didn't think they were that tight. The rev limit of 7500, isn't too much of a bind.

Rob.

I was told that 107 (Meindert van Buuren) has a 7 litre engine as in recent Corvettes and the other (Robert de Graaff + Philippe Ribbens) a 6 litre.

I believe Nigel Mustill/Steve Hall's is still 5.7.

I guess relative to each other they are: control suspension, control gear ratios, control diffs, control ECU, control ignition coil..

But free of that you'd have a reasonable chassis to start with.
