Monte Carlo Historic Rally

Now I know that this is the "Historic Racing Forum" but given that its the close season for most of us and we seem to deal with historic events such as the Tour Britannia, I thought I'd take my chances and post this here anyway!

Check out the Historic Monte entry list here:

http://images.pistonheads.com/nimg/2...s_RMCH2013.pdf

Damn, that's my second faux pas, its from the derided PH (aka the motorsport daily mail). Oh well.

It is a truly awesome entry list with everything from Renault Alpines and Porsche 911s to Golf GTis & Alfetta GTV, Opel Kadetts, VW Beetles and even a Fiat X1/9.

Note that Rick Pearson is entered in a 924 Turbo as well. I think he's a 10-Tenths man.

Far more interesting than modern rallying. I'd love to go and spectate on that one day.

Over 300 cars entered at Eur6000 per entry, that's quite a haul for the AC de Monaco !!!!!!

Some interesting entries :

Loeb's co-pilot Daniel Elena (driving) at No.104 - could be interesting to hear the discussions when the pace notes -opps sorry they're not allowed- are wrong !!

Jason Wright (U2TC Alfa & GT40 peddler) at No. 302

My old boss, Joseph Lambert (navigator & winner of the event twice in the last few years) at No. 37

But by far the furthest traveller must be Craig Lowndes (Aussi touring cars) who's driving a 1951 Holden - oldest car by far in the entry list
AND they are starting from Glasgow !!!!!!!!!! Good on ya mate !!!!!!

Yes, it is a fairly common name in some parts of the country, Dirk is not the President of the European Council.

Dirk Van Rompuy started with rallying and is now doing historic rallies and historic racing in the Belgian Historic Cup ( http://www.bravoracing.be/ ).

This is his website (in Flemish): http://www.vanrompuyracing.be/

Kind regards,

Serge

Thank you Serge. I had wondered if he might be a relative. It could be useful to have someone active in Historic Motor Sport with at least some connection to the workings of the EU. Alas it seems that is not the case.

Well that was certainly an adventure!

Full blog on here for those interested:

http://www.efgmotorracing.com/index....ally-2013.html

And I've decided to sell the 924 Turbo, which is a fabulous regularity car and get something I can compete at the sharp end of the Tour Britannia with... so anyone interested drop me a PM?

Cheers
Rick

I saw the car last year, apart from a set of modern driving lights it is a replica of the Holden run by 3 Australians in the rally 50 years ago.
