Historical top speed results
Hello.
I've got a simple question. Are there any historical top speed data available in the net? Formula1.com has full speed trap data, but only from 2004 onwards. Moreover, there are some traces of the info, like article about '88 german gp on wikipedia, or speed trap results visible on some old tv coverage. |

Largely irrelevant as its a choice of gearing at tracks, most cars have been able to do over 200 mph at certain tracks since the 1960s, certainly 70s unless you are comparing different marques at the same race, but they would also be geared differently.
Moss often asked for slightly lower gearing & he would deal with the 'overevving factor', which he did so with Aston's (in DB3Ss & DBR1s) after John Wyer agreed. Last edited by FastDB2s; 2 Sep 2012 at 16:16. |

Murray Walker said at the 2000 German Grand Prix on the old unneutered Hockenheim that they were going 220mph.
Now that is an announcer, so take it with a grain of salt. Also, not sure of the year (early 2000s), but I heard Michael Schumacher hit 231mph at Monza. |

I just checked the Formula 1 website.
At the 2005 Grand Prix of Monza, Kimi went 370km in the speedtrap! |
