Andy H should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Lifted from Autosport...

Draft sporting regulations circulated to BTCC teams could signal the end for pit stops in the category. The proposal is that the current sprint and feature races would make way for two 30-minute races.

The One-Shot Showdown could also be on its way out as qualifying would be over one half-hour session with the grid for the second race formed according to the results of the first.

- What do people think; I quite like sprint/feature race format we have and the 'one shot' is definately more interesting than normal qualifying.

- Wonder why the proposed changes?

One important consideration is that it takes so long to change a wheel when there are multiple nuts! Look at class B at Snett. Everyone was done and waiting for the boys.

BTCC tyre stops, as in F1, suck big time. Getting rid of them is superb news. I do think that the one stop showdown should stay, but only to set positions for race 1. Race 2 should be decided on the results of race 1 as they used to be (though I don't think they should bring back the 10 minute gap between races as this would lead to drivers not attacking in race 1 as they preserved the car for race 2.)

Alternatively, why not consider reversing the one shot showdown grid positions for race 2 ? Reverse grids work well elsewhere.

Vauxhall - don't forget, they're the only manufacturer in it so far - have dissed the proposal, obviously preferring the way things are right now.

Dunno why, as I think pitstops are the major reason that there's no passing in F1. Gone is the mentality of drivers that says race; that's been replaced by one that simply says: Let's get 'em on the pitstops...
