Everybody's favourite tabloid, Autosport, has now reported (or rumoured, whichever comes first) that Ray Mallock could indeed return to the BTCC in next season's Championship.
Obviously wanting to take advantage of the new, low-cost formula, the squad have apparently been talking to upwards of eight manufacturers about next season. According to the article, the most likely at this stage is Renault. Doesn't really matter which manufacturer it is, just as long as it's another two or three cars on the grid... |

And if it's true, the answer is apparently the Magane, although they are also in talks with Rover about their would-be return to the series.

it's looking promising - there's Peugot as well lurking so hopefully someone will sign up alongside Vauxhall to get the ball rolling

why is everyone worried about grid sizes for next year????
There will be at least 20 cars, there is no reason why we cant have the enthusiasm of the Germans and there DTM series. People should stop having ago at the btcc, what does it take to get peoples suport? |

I can only hope you're right. The news from the past week is promising, in that Rover could be back - with up to four cars - and Renault are said to be considering a return through RML. If Ford and Peugeot join in the party, we could be in for some good racing...

I think the line up of manufacturers could be as follows plus the ones that probably/def won't do it.
Vauxhall (def) Ford (Probable) Renault (Probable) Rover (Maybe) Honda (Maybe) Peugeot (Probable) Alfa (Maybe) VW (Maybe) Audi (No) Nissan (No) Toyota (No) Proton/Hyundai (Very Doubtful) |
