James Manderson - F3

JAMES MANDERSON RACING FORMULA 3

The Formula 3 Euro Series kicks off with the first round at Hockenheim in less than 2 weeks time. Australian Formula 3 Champion James Manderson will be competing under the Swiss Racing Team banner. James has been assisted by some private backers and the CAMS Australian motor Sports Foundation. He hopes to reward his supporters with a good showing at his first overseas competition.

“In the last five months I’ve had to travel to Europe four times to complete a total of ten test days.” said James. “It’s great to be actually racing and working from the team base in Lucerne after all that travel. After the Hockenheim race we move to Adria in Italy for the second round less than two weeks later. I’ve improved and learned an enormous amount from the testing, but we still have to be realistic about our expectations. There are guys in this field with Formula One tattooed on their forehead, and I will have to battle to advance every place.”

Favourites for the championship include Australia’s Ryan Briscoe, Nico Rosberg, Marcus Winklehock, Timo Glock and James’ team mate Cesar Campanico.

This is the inaugural year of the Euro Series , which combines the prestigious German and French championships and competes in 5 different countries on some of Europe’s greatest circuits. Past graduates of these championships include current Formula 1 drivers Michael and Ralph Schumacher, Jarno Trulli, Nick Heidfeld, Olivier Panis and Heinz-Harald Frentzen.

“It’s a tremendous privilege to be in a championship at this level, and basically representing Australia. I’ll be giving it everything!”

Has James' drive in Euro F3 been confirmed? I was talking with him on Friday and it was still to be finalized. Good luck if it is all happening.

James had a good grounding in Formula Vee, just like his many-time Formula Vee Nationals winning dad, Warwick.

I would think that the above media release confirms his drive....
