Knock sensors

Does anyone know if it is possible to but a dash mounted knock sensor warning device ? I am sure there was one on the market a few years back but don`t seem to be able to find one now.
As I remember it was a very simple device with an illuminating warning light when it detected any knock.

I've used a J&S system a few years ago and it worked very well.

Yeah that^

On my last car if you hear it knock it was already too late- ring land would be cracked, damn turbo's it all happens faster.

Now not a problem, you can hear it coming on and back it off. I guess the alloy block helps the resonance

The trouble with knock sensing is knowing the characteristics of what you are looking for. Knock is usually in a narrow frequency band at a particular load site in the engine map. Unless the sensor is capable of sensing across a wide frequency band and the controller is able to pick it out, I wouldn't bother with it. When Bosch conduct knock testing on race engines, they fully instrument the entire engine to characterize knock. It costs thousands to do it properly and I would be suspicious of cheap alternatives claiming to be able to identify knock unless its really obvious.
