Spectator fencing around Club @ Silverstone

Is it me, or have they erected a huge fence around Club corner since 2000?

I was planning on sitting at Club, but that fence put me off, it looks like a fence made for Fort Nox.

I see one of the best spectator areas (Vale) was taken up by some huge hospitality area this year too...

Andy H should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I sat in the GA area there in 2002 and it was ok.

Not sure what has happened since then as I am no longer in UK.

As Silverstone are in the middle of renew all the debris fence the FIA and MSA have recomened some areas that have needed better protetion scince the removal of the gravel traps.I think this is the case at club.

McKay has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Thats silly, with Gravel Traps they need more fencing as cars could dig in and flip but with asphalt thats not going to happen.

You should remember now there is no gravel at these points now entry speeds are higher as drivers feel less likely to lose out if the make a mistake. Also with no gravel cars that have major failure like no brakes, losing a wheel ect will not slow down till they hit somthing. The first thing that will be is the tirewall then the debris fence,so bit of car will be arriving faster and sooner than if the car has hit gravel.
And before you say it will never happen it has at copse last year in F.Ford with Ben Clucus losing a wheel after contact on the approch he hit the tires unabaited in excess of 100 mph.Debris flew everywhere.
