Moving swiftly on, taking Martin's point, it'd be cheap technology compared to the DTM Merc, or even an M3. I went down the Chevy route because it's fit and forget technology. The only weak point (other than the driver!) in the car will be the rear end, but I'm working on sorting that out. I expect to change the oil maybe twice in the year. Change the plugs for 2006, and maybe rebuild the engine for the 2007 season.

I looked up a brand new gearbox recently - $1625 (not bad with the £ vs the $ at the moment). Parts to completely rebuild mine will cost about $600.
That's a little cheaper than an ex-BTCC box I think...
