Feel bad for Marco - he made some gutsy calls out there and drove perfectly. But congratulations to Mr. Munoz for managing the conditions. Good day for Andretti Autosport and Honda.

Do they still get full points for this race then?

I was really surprised when everyone pitted when it started spitting. I know that their radar showed that there was going to be a downpour at some point, but surely it's better to stay out until it arrives? I suppose there would be an added risk of crashing out on the way back to the pits when it does, but Munoz, Andretti and Pagenaud were all 10 seconds a lap faster. Montoya ended up lapped! It looked like Power was struggling with the worn tyres too, might have had to pit had the conditions not become undrivable.

If i go by NASCAR rules it must hit halfway before (in this case) lighting stikes and managed to get to lap 48 before race was called, halfway lap was 45 therefore i think full points will be awarded

Crazy race, as always with weather. Quite hard to follow with the very poor commentating. I really dont understad why they brought Dixon in so early for wets. He drove like 8 laps before it was even anywhere near wet enough.

Marco made the right calls and drove very well. Debris cautions a bit unnessisary, can someone just run out and grab the bits under a local yellow and in a gap between cars. most of the time they didnt go green long enough to stretch out the field much.

Enjoyed it though, roll on race 2

Indycar site suggests it'll be raining throughout. Maybe our kamikaze friend Sato could do better this time?

This. While I absolutely do not want the corner workers to be in danger, race control has transponders to tell them where all the cars are, all the time. How hard could it be to coordinate and have someone grab the piece? That should reduce the time of the FCY even if a pace car is required to collect and control the field.

On a slightly related topic, I'm amazed nobody ran over that cone at pit in.

The workers getting hit at the end of the IMSA race probably didn't help the cause of local yellows, to be fair.

But why assume IndyCar and NASCAR rules are the same?

That said, I'm too lazy to find and look through IndyCar's rulebook. But I haven't heard anything to suggest other than full points for this race.

50% + 1 lap makes a race official, full points awarded.

I agree, but do IndyCar really have the tech and resources to do this?

I would really like to see debris picked up under local yellow, and also where a driver has gone off down an escape road or crashed out on a permanent road course. It seems like the use of the safety car is massively excessive in IndyCar, I just get the feeling it's because they have no other realistic options.

Qualifying for Race 2 was washed out by rain and the grid set by entrant points.

A very clean start and Power gets the jump on Montoya for the lead.

Five laps in the rain without a yellow. That's a lot in contrast to yesterday's race.

That's bad luck for Power, having to pit for a wheel change, the steering wheel that is.

Karam goes 3-wide and runs into Hawksworth again in a nearly identical move from a few laps ago.

Meanwhile right after the Gannassi's crashed, now 2 of the Penske's have been taken out. It's getting wild.
