Rivalling F1 has never been the intention, but there are a lot of fans out there who have no interest in current F1 but could potentially enjoy motor racing. They might be excited by the idea of equal competition in equal cars, the nationality aspect, the fact that it doesn't cost a fortune to go to, and the fact that you don't need huige financial backing to get a drive. In the long term tehre are aspects of A1 that F1 might have to consider and be inspired by, just as ideas such as the safety car have come from US racing.
