Anyway, if anything Ricard showed (if proof was needed) that we are in for a treat. 18 drivers within 8 tenths of a second, that's competitive!! I am really really surprised to see rookie teams and drivers already in the pace, well done to Trident, Hamilton, Zuber, di Grassi, Glock, Perera, Filippi, Ammermuller and Gommendy Regarding those title prediction, it is interesting to note that times suggest that ART doesn't have any edge. Like I said, we are in for a treat, I can't wait till Valencia |

But in both A1GP and GP2, there is very very little running outside the race weekends. After the final pre-season GP2 test, what do the mechanics really have left to do before the first race assuming the car has not been recently damaged.

You're right, but all that travelling back and forth, particularly with GP2 testing back on now, can be pretty exhausting.

Lewis Hamilton has been going well in the recent testing, but I don't think he will win the championship. The line-up looks very strong even though last season's main stars have moved on to F1, which can only be good. I think either Nicolas Lapierre or Alexandre Premat will win, but whoiever wins will be deserving, and it's always great to see the future stars of F1.

Upsss.....!!!
Again..., but with record!
Lopez sets new standards as lap record falls in France 17/03/2006 Jose Maria Lopez has set a new benchmark for the GP2 series at Circuit Paul Ricard. Super Nova International's Jose Maria Lopez finished this morning's test session as the quickest driver in the GP2 series. His lap of 1:12.547 has set the new standard for 2006-spec GP2 series cars at the track, beating the former record of 1:12.838 held by Lewis Hamilton on the 3.853km "3D" track solution. The Argentine set his lap mid-way through the session at a colder than expected Circuit Paul Ricard. With temperatures hitting a high of 13 degrees, Lopez's lap was one of four to dip ino the 1:12s this morning. He was joined in the bracket by ART Grand Prix's Alex Premat, Dams driver Franck Perera and Nelson Piquet Jr in his Piquet Sports entry. Franck Perera was the busiest man on track this morning, running a total of 48 laps. Jason Tahinci (FMS International) and Felix Porteiro (Campos Racing) both completed 47 laps each. Testing continues this afternoon at 14:00 for the drivers to run the final three hours in which to set their mark on the GP2 series records before we leave Circuit Paul Ricard until our mid-season test. full times to follow.... Don't you trust in Pechito? That's your problem... |

Pechito needs to trust more in his engine, or something
Indeed, finished Premat first followed by Lopez from this afternoon's times, then di Grassi, Piquet, Valles and Hamilton - Carroll in tenth. The first thirteen cars were all within a second of Premat's quickest time. |
