8 laps to go, Pagenaud is now officially the 2016 champion.

Disappointing end with Powers gearbox troubles but a great season. Indycar delivered again in 2016 and made strides in building its fan base with progression of crowds and tv numbers.

Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Congrats to Pagenaud as champion.

Couldn't happen to a better guy!

Great to have a new Champion.

I tried hard to like the aero on these cars.
Still appears as experimental to me. If they could
just reduce the rear elements by 50 % , that
would look better.

I can officially say congrats to Simon Pagenaud, a very worthy and popular champion and congrats to Penske in their 50th year.

Funny how Aleshin is (one of) the first drivers to come over and congratulate Simon - in victory lane.
Do they have some history together?

EDIT: Of course, they were teammates at Schmidt 2 years ago.

Nicely done, Simon. Nice words to team as well as their families. Nice stamp on the championship with a pretty dominating win.

Congratulations to Simon, he deserved it. Unfortunate that the last race of the season turned out to be the biggest yawner of the year but they can't all be aces. I'd actually like to see the last race of the year be at Watkins Glen, or at least somewhere the cars can pass.

It was a good season and great for me as I got to attend Sebring testing, St. Pete, Barber, and the Indy 500 in person. Looking forward to next season and will be interested to see how the driver shuffling plays out in the off season.

6 months is a pretty long off season but at least we'll get to see about half the drivers in action at the Rolex 24 like usual.

The season finale felt odd at Sonoma. I love road courses but think the season finale should be an oval, but to your point, one where more changing of position can take place.

It's far too long and hurts the series. Guess what? I spent the weekend as a chaperone for a kids camp, watched my college and pro football teams play and somehow, someway found time to watch this race live. I am the fan they worry about and they should stop worrying.

It was a snore fest. I was looking forward to some racing after a dull Singapore GP but it wasn't to be. However, as a season 2016 more than made up for it. The highlight was going to the Indy 500.

There was lots of speculation during the race about who is going to be driving for whom, so we're going to be in for quite an interesting Silly season.

It's a bit of shame there'll be a freeze on aero-kits, as Honda are starting to look good and have made inroads in to Chevy's dominance. Anyway, roll on next season.

Well Simon for doing it. Not the best race, but dramatic moment when Power suddenly lost er power, which meant it was plain sailing for Pagenued. And glad Montoya ended a tough year with a podium, hope he finds a seat for next year

I totally agree. I'd pick Texas for the show, but there's the college football issue.
