don't think he'll be on the grid again.
Perhaps IndyCar or something else.

Sam Schmidt has shut down his Indy Lights team.

So my Santiago Urrutia has no ride

Alex K has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I heard somewhere, I think it was interview with Stoneman himself that he wants to come back if can't pull off full season deal in ICS, and do standalone Indy 500. I think he is back.

I heard Schmidt decided to focus on a third Indycar when he couldn't get the South American drivers to pay the full season budget up front (probably motivated by Enerson quitting mid-season to take his money to Dale Coyne). Negrao is testing with other teams, not sure about Urrutia.

Interesting if that's true, perhaps Stellrecht are willing to fund another season? I haven't seen him testing anywhere. Andretti have been running Nico Jamin, Richard Gonda, Ryan Norman (SCCA Atlantic champion) and Colton Herta so far.

Santiago Urrutia is struggling to get the budget to race in North America.

He doesn't discard racing in Argentinan tin-tops.

What does he need? 1.3M, 1.4M in total for a good ride? If can't get that, I doubt he'd challenge for any full season seats in ICS. There are opportunities in Pirelli WC, and still in IMSA as well.

Depends which team, amount of testing etc. Carlin probably charge the most.

I've heard the typical budget is ~$1 million. Bearing in mind last season was 18 races and that's been reduced to 16 for 2017, with less travel (no west coast venues).

I wouldn't completely rule out Indycar for Urrutia, Schmidt gave him a test at Mid-Ohio (https://twitter.com/Santi_Urrutia/st...81681620115456) and mentioned him as a possible candidate for a part-time third car.

But there would be no 3rd car from Schmidt, at least no fullseason car. Because after Ganassi switches to Honda there are more Honda teams than Chevy teams.

It isn't a 50:50 split now and it wasn't in 2012 either. I'll believe Sam Schmidt over some random guy who spams fantasy lists.
