1999 Le Mans
Just sitting here thinking, but did anybody watch Speedvision's, now Speed Channel, coverage of the 1999 Le Mans 24 hours? I think they broadcasted 14 hours of the race. If so, did anybody record Speedvision's broadcast of the 1999 Le Mans race?

I watched it and recorded it, but unfortunately recorded over it almost exactly a year later.

I just watched some last years races in a row this week-end (94, 95, 96, 97 and part of 98)... how long will be that winter !

Fab, are those the years you have recorded off the tv, or are those review videos of those years. If anyone can help me with Speedvision's broadcast of the 1999 LM and even the 1998 LM races who have recorded it off the tv, please let me know. I will be very thankful!!

L-M '99 tapes

The home recording tape has been re-utilised and the Duke has been watched on occaision.  A problem with both was too much `after dark' time during which all that could be discerned was headlights glaring into the camera lens.  That perhaps is the reasoning behind the additional lighting at Daytona and Sebring.  At least the cars can be identified as the enter the camera's `zone' and are panned thru.

Fab is absolutely right. We cannot sanction illegal copying of tapes recorded from the TV. We know it goes on, but that doesn't mean we can promote it.
The best source of Le Mans tapes is Duke |

going back to the night time headlight issue, i know what you mean about glaring into the camera when watching on tv but wouldnt lighting at le mans ruin the magic as isnt the special thing seeing and hearing a juud v10 powered car or a 911 rsr throttle away from arnarge or mulsane corner or even terte rouge with the headlights illuminating the pine forrests! although i do know what you mean i would much prefer no lighting and as i make the annual pilgrimage to la sarthe (since '99) i think it is part of le mans and it should be kept how it is, harking back to the glory days of the 956 and the 962!
