Unlikely, considering the amount of money Dick makes out of it each year. Plus his nice little earner from the Konica setup with Fujitsu's money.

But, if Shell were looking to pull the pin, or if he thought they were, then it would make sense to sell the ship while it looked like it was still floating.

But everything past "...Fujitsu's money" is pure speculation.

But Mr formerly, the difference here is that the Shell rumour isn't new and certainly isn't unbelievable.

Remember who it was who had yellow cars and a "last minute" sponsorship deal arranged in 2003?

Isn't Garry Rogers contracted by Valvoline to look after their motorsport sponsorship? Hence why he has always had the sponsorship and no other car having signage. Also Up until this year, Michael Ritters Sonic Motorsport have been sponsored by Valvoline and though Garry pulled Valvoline out of FF to focus all on the V8 team?

Please correct me if i'm wrong but thats what I heard.

Noise out of WA from the supercar event was that certain discussions took place with local (local to WA) domiciled business types with a view to a potential investment in the Supercar category, either as a corporate sponsor, patron, or indeed both.

No names no packdrill, but it should be easy to work it out....

GTRMagic,
Wouldn't the WA-based person have a 50% interest in the "ferro equinology" industry, large insurance and hardware businesses too?

Mike

Stokes used to have a share in the Perth Wildcats, so would be no stranger to sporting team ownership.

Have heard strong rumours about Fujitsu A/C wanting to enter the main series. Maybe they are pretty happy with their Konica exposure and want to expand on this.

This is from www.djrclub17.com.au

Having literally just put the Phone down from Steve Chalker, DJR General Manager, the team is definately not "on the market" and next year is shaping up to be very big for both the Konica and maingame entrants.
We can all breath easy!

Yeah, and 'The Club Board is totally behind Paul Langmack as coach of South Sydney'.

Unfortunately official denials don't hold much credibility. The greatest of all was Johnny's "I will not introduce a GST".

God bless his cotton socks.

Not saying that he's lying of course, but I'm not saying he's not.

I take it this means DJR will be upgrading both Konica cars to BA's next year. Poor old level three teams in the Konica are going to start struggling in 2005!

Certainly Fujitsu have made mileage out of having another accomplished spokesman for its products in Dick Johnson as well as Mark Taylor. I'd be wanting to investigate the main series if I were Fujitsu.

If Kerry Stokes did weigh into V8 Supercar he'd be able to secure the CAT money for sure due to his WesTrac ownership.
