Next thing is that we get rubber strips around the cars (like on karts) to avoid crashes!
On a more serious note...i hope the teams will reject this proposal. The only good thing in this idea is slick tyres. |

I see the logic behind it, however the trick is how it performs in a corner. In a straight line I can see a nice gap in the dirty air, but when the car has yaw does it stay nice? What we perhaps need is a flap that is present on the straight, but disappears under braking and cornering (). I haven't seen a diagram of the dimensions on this gap yet. How big and what shape is it? |

The rear tyres must seriously effect that.
Thanks for the link. Reminds me of a Enzo I sawa picture of testing at Monza in the sportscar forum: http://tentenths.com/forum/showthrea...hlight=ferrari (last picture after the ones of the 430) |

I think it's definitely worth further investigation. "Artists impression" of a 2D picture of the wake is rather scary though. Don't think it will look that nice in 3D...

My first thought is that if the designer can't spell 'conventional' why should we trust his ability as an aerodynamicist?!
Seriously, wouldn't a plan view of the airflow be more relevant? |

The same people that brought us "more overtaking in 2005" are attempting the same in 2007/2008.
Ha! |

More like 'Pan nic' or 'cre sse'. At least they have two more end plates to play with. |

Why not reintroducing ground effect? Why does the FIA always want to reinvent the wheel?

I have an idea for ads.
All advertising must be on 'boards' that are vertical and placed at 90 degrees to the direction of travel.More ads=more drag, simple innit. |

Could we perhaps, for once, discuss the content of the thread - the actual suggestion?
At least there is discussion going on. Perhaps it is radical, but maybe a step in teh right area. Perhaps we won't have standardised, but restrictions similar to that. Or maybe a standard full wing. But most interestingly - how does that idea work? |

I was reading about this this morning and thought it sounded alright in principle (well it would wouldnt it really....) but was worried about how it would look. Now I've seen it I can confirm it looks hilarious. Almost as bad a development as X-wings and the airbox mounted camera-holding wing. Can't race cars just look like race cars anymore???

Structurally it won't work - it needs some kind of cross-member to tie the two wings together at the top otherwise the downforce from each wing will be trying to bend over the single wing support. That's assuming it does actually create downforce of course...

Carbon fibre doesn't have the flexability of rubber, y'know...
